 Ch.1

“Where am I?” Kaisaid as he looked around hoping to see some sort of landmark or person that he could converse with. Unfortunately all he could see was a foggy whiteness with a few light shadows. Kai ran up to one of the shadows to ask where he was. The fog around the figure dissolved showing a warrior wearing crystals who began to kneel before Kai.

Suddenly scenery changed, now instead of being in endless foggy abyss he was now in a stone cavern surrounded by rocks and gems. But Kai wasn't alone nor paying attention to the gems, sitting before him was a Hindu man in a robe with a turban on.

“Who are you? Where am I?” Kai said. His voice was filled with confusion and a small amount of suspicion.

The Hindu man smiled, rose from his place of seating, and calmly moved in front of Kai. He placed his hand on Kai shoulder.

“It’s not about who you are, but what you will do. The place isn’t as important as the reason for coming.” He said

“I don’t really understand. Why are you being so confusing?” Kai said

“Well you will understand at some point but remember this: Life is like a gem, the more you polish it the brighter it shines.” He said as he passed his hand across Kai’s face.

"But what is your name?" Kai said more curious than ever.

The man's mouth moved but Kai couldn't perceive the words and before he could ask again, the world fades to black.

Kai wakes up the next morning in a cold sweat.

“What was that?” Kai said as he put on his glasses.

Kai got out of bed in his blue pajamas and walked over to the calendar. Today is the duel academy practical exam he thought. Kai looked over at the clock and luckily he wasn’t late. So then Kai put on a black jacket and some blue jeans. When he looked back at the clock he realized that he still had an hour before he had to leave. So he decided to take a final look at his deck.

“What the Heck” Kai said as he looked at his deck. All the cards in his deck were different from before. Most of the cards in his deck had the prefix Gem-Knight. At that moment Kai remembered the Hindu man’s last words. Life is like a gem, the more you polish it the brighter it shines.

“Maybe he had something to do with it” Kai whispered.

Kai looked over at the clock again and realized that he spent about an hour looking at his cards. So Kai got on his red ten-speed bike and began to head toward the testing center.
