It all happened so fast, she was gone and my jaw was still cascading off my desk, lying on the floor. What the hell was that supposed to mean!? I asked around and know you don’t have a girlfriend? I mean okay, I know what that means but who does she think she is?
Nothing is gonna happen between us, she's not my type. This is a friendly outing to take my mind off of this hellish day. I grab my books and check my phone, normally when girls like that say they’re going to text you, it’s pretty much instant. Don’t get me wrong, she’s not “that” kind of girl, just really friendly and outgoing.
Nope no text, not yet. Looking up from my phone I realize I’m the last student in class. It’s just me and Ms. Yi, she has her back to me and is cleaning off the chalkboard. I have a purpose for still being here, but the reason briefly escapes me because I’m mesmerized by the view… just back and forth… side to side… wiping away at Mr. Ford’s huge “Enjoy your Winter Break!!!” writing.
Being male, a teenager and hormones aside, her figure was simply sculpted to perfection. She's only 25, I'd easily overlook the 6 years between us though.
I shake it off cause I do have something important to ask, I’ve known Mr. Ford since I was kid, and he’s been one of my teachers since freshman year. He taught my brother and even taught my…"
“Danté, what are you still doing here?” she asks while turning around and swatting away the chalk in the air.
Her hair was wrapped neatly in a bun, so her facial features could clearly be seen. Her cheekbones were high and her dimples were so profound that you could see them even when she wasn’t smiling. Her eyes were big and round which most kids found to be odd… because well you know… she’s Asian.
Not trying to stereotype but they weren’t the least bit slanted, she almost looked like something out of an anime with those big brown eyes. The girls of course all talked in whispers about how they bet she had surgery when she was younger. The guys, me included, could care less because she was simply beautiful.
“Danté, hello?” she calls out again, stepping towards me while waving her hand, trying to get my attention.
“Yes ma’am? Umm sorry, kinda got lost in thought there for a minute.”
She smiled and told me not to worry about it, with her dimples now making it even harder not to stare at her. “What can I help you with?” she asks.
“Oh umm, Mr. Ford… is he alright? I was hoping to speak with him before the break.” I’d never seen such a quick change in expression and emotion as I did with her just now. It happened so fast that I actually asked myself had she been cheery and smiling at all. Her eyes quickly dropped to the floor, then back up to mine.
“Well, yes he’s just fine. He had something come up and had to leave immediately, but wished you all a great winter break, so don’t worry, he had you all in his heart before he left.”
I’m no expert, but even I could tell she was lying, I don’t blame her though, after all I’m a student and his personal life is none of my business. Still, I couldn’t help this uneasy feeling that overcame me.
“Alrighty then Danté, I’m going to lock the room now, so we should be getting out of here. Besides, I’m sure a charming handsome young man like yourself must have big plans for the break. Don’t get into too much trouble.” she says with a forced smile, now unable to put on an even mildly believable show.
“Yes Ms. Yi, you enjoy your break as well.” I said while turning my back to her and heading for the door.
“Oh and Danté.” I stop to look over my shoulder, just enough to see her in the corner of my eye. “Thanks for asking about him and showing that you…”
