Fenris saw it all as if in slow motion. The breath was knocked out of his lungs at the same time as it was from Cassandra's, the shot of silvery gray fur sending her rolling to the side. He leaped at her rescue, pouncing on the smaller wolf's silver-like back and sinking his sharp fangs into his neck.
Meanwhile, Cassandra had straightened herself from her violent fall, and, with a vicious growl, she tore at the wolf's underbelly. She's smart, was Fenris' fleeting thought as he remembered they could ask the attacker for information.
The silvery wolf whined in pain, trying to shake her off like a pesky fly, though she was far from it. Her powerful jaw clamped down and refused to concede an inch of the skin it was tearing apart. The attacker was trapped, with a massive wolf on top and, though quite small, a raging female beneath. Tail tucked between his legs, ears lowered down, he tried his best to roll to the ground with Fenris still on his back and Cassandra shredding away at his stomach's muscles.
I submit, he whimpered through the general link.
It is not enough, Wolf, Cassandra, his brave vicious Little Wolf, replied. Submit to me. Cassandra, Alpha of the East Clan.
I submit, entirely and solely to you, Cassandra, Alpha of the East Clan. My new Alpha.
Cassandra gradually released her hold on him, and nodded at her soulmate to do the same. An immense feeling of pride overcame Fenris as he saw his soulmate take charge, power coursing and crackling around her like a white-hot fire, an unbridled and untamable racehorse. And she was all his, as he was all hers, from the white tip of his tail to the black of his snout.
Taken by a brief moment of intense bravery, he approached his Little Wolf and gave her a quick lick on the cheek and a nibble on her jaw, expressing his immeasurable affection for her. She let a low growl rumble through her throat, but Fenris sensed some joy and slight giddiness rippling in the bond. It purred, like a giant, metaphorical cat at the positive emotions stroking it.
Some days Fenris was certain it was alive.
Suddenly, a long, terrifying snarl echoed in the valley, and both Fenris and his Little Wolf looked up at the edge of the slope. There the Beast stood in all his glory, hackles raised to their full extent, eyes blazing with barely tamed fire. His chops were drawn up to reveal two rows of blindingly white teeth, sharpened to the point where they looked like the throwing blades Fenris had once learned how to use.
The Beast had felt his Queen's pain and her distress, and he would be damned if the one that had caused was not ripped to shreds by him. He had always been the most sensitive of the band, acutely in tune with his Queen's emotions, ready to maul anything and anyone standing in her path, with or without her spoken command.
The silver wolf on the ground cowered even closer to the pebbled beach if possible as he felt the wave of raw power coming from the Beast smother everything. Fenris almost saw the moment his Little Wolf let go of her aura and he did the same. The powers battled for a while, searching which was more flaming. Like a loyal dog, the Beast's curled up behind Cassandra's. Soon after, Fenris felt his own twirl and dive around his soulmate's as they danced in the air. They were invisible, but everyone could feel it.
The silvery wolf's bones could have cracked under the pressure of he had not already submitted fully.
What happened? came Teras' raspy voice down the link.
I'm pretty sure I was just the victim of a prepared assassination, Teras.
It was the wrong thing to say.
In one leap the large reddish wolf was pounding down the slope. He skidded to a halt in front of her and started checking for injuries.
Fenris growled as the unmated male sniffed his mate. He was not jealous, up to the point where an unmated male tried to stuff his nose into his soulmate's neck. However, he needn't do anything. As soon as the nose had approached her neck, his Little Wolf had snapped irritatedly at Teras, who immediately drew back and instead looked at the silver wolf on the ground before him.
Who is this?
Do we look like we know? He's male. He smells like he's from somewhere in the North-East, but on the North side of the border—she sniffed the air—near a river or lake with pine forests around. He eats caribou and snowshoe hares a lot.
What happened? a third voice joined the link.
Etna ambled down the hill at first before realizing what was happening and accelerating her pace. She stopped short next to Teras.
Alpha Queen was attacked.
Oh, just that? What was all the rush?
Don't you understand? She was attacked!
I do speak Rukian, Teras. I still don't understand what all the buzz is about. That girl can kick ass faster than even Lycaon can. And her aura is damn powerful. Like, she could probably win the fight just by releasing her hold on it.
Cassandra rubbed her cheek against her friend's in quite gratefulness of the she-Wolf's respect of her capacities.
Suddenly, a large black blur came speeding down the slope, closely followed by a white one. Lycaon screeched to a stop before the prostrate form of the silvery Wolf, his hackles raised higher than the moon. A throaty, hateful snarl curled in his throat.
He is a mercenary from Luna.
A/N) AND VOILA!! Another chapter wrapped and ready to go! Sorry for the tardiness, a posted the reason on my page.
So... Third part. New character. New mentioned character. Who's Luna? (Well I know but that's because I know everything)
