Bang. Bang.
"Hey! –up! –out!"
What the...I thought, gingerly opening my eyes. My vision was filled with darkness. I could see nothing, as if I was stuck in the middle of a black void. I had no space to move around, bumping into some kind of ridge. Outside, I heard the rustle of a breeze, and light footsteps nearby. I tried to raise my arms, only reaching them half a foot before hitting something solid, something plastic. Oh gosh. Was I really trapped inside of something? I felt around with my hands as quick as I could, until I felt something rough and jagged. By the shape and texture, probably the track of a zipper.
Wait.
A zipper?
My instincts kicked in. I tried moving around, finding myself bumping into hard plastic walls and some kind of ridge in the ground.
Okay...judging by the amount of space I have to move around, the outside sounds, and the zipper, that means that I'm in...a suitcase?
The question was why, though?
Why exactly was I in a suitcase? How did I get in this suitcase? Had I been abducted? I didn't see any other reason for my predicament besides that. If so, then where was I and who'd taken me? I guessed that the voice I'd heard that had woken me up was the culprit.
I tried to shake those thoughts away. It was going to give me a headache, which I didn't need to add to my situation.
I felt around until my fingertips touched the smooth underside of the zipper. I did my best to slide it across the track, wincing at the sharp sound.
I continued until the sunlight began to stream in through the first crack, sweat generating on my face from the cramped space and the warmth of the white light.
I had never been more glad to feel its heat and see its rays.
Finally I got the zipper to the end of its path. With a grunt I shoved the top off, the bang it made against the pavement echoing in my ears.
Now that was a sound I'd never thought would ever sound satisfying.
I sat up and glanced around in a panic, wondering where I was. I realized that I was sitting in the middle of a cobblestone courtyard, trees dotting the stone every couple tens of feet. Upon first glance, I saw absolutely no one else in the area. I turned my gaze to the empty half of the suitcase and stared at its purple padding. The exterior of it was a startling silver, and in this other half of it was a fluffy looking pillow and some kind of strange looking device.
Okay. I'd observed my surroundings. Now where was I?
"It's about time you woke up!"
My head whipped around to the voice so fast I nearly got whiplash. Sitting on a bench a few feet away, wearing a royal blue polo shirt, stark white jeans, brown sandals, and black sunglasses upon his head, was Shinichi Kudo, who was slowly putting his phone back into his pocket as he stared upon me.
Oh, it's just Shinichi, I thought.
Then I nearly did a double take.
Wait a second...but I'm Shinichi!
As disoriented as I was, it shouldn't have taken me so long to realize who it was.
"K-Kaito Kid?!"
