"Somebody's got to get off so the rest of us can live" Alex said, looking among the group of soldiers. You were standing with your back pressed against the side of the ship, your new friend Tommy next to you.
"But that's not fair." Tommy piped in, taking a small step forward.
"Survival isn't fair!" Alex responded, voice coated with anger. "So who's it gonna be? I'd rather it be him than me." Alex gestures towards 'Gibson', who was apparently French.
"What about the Princess?" Another soldier says, grinning your way. You felt your stomach boil slightly, but that was washed away by the fear as soon as other soldiers gather around you.
"No!" Tommy says loudly, startling you. "You're not throwing her off. You can't." Tommy says, his voice breaking at the end. His hands instantly find your waist, pulling you towards him. "If you kill her, you'll have to kill me, too."
"I'm fine with that." An unnamed soldier sneers, grabbing your wrist tightly before Tommy pulls you behind him. "Come on, you two aren't fun." The same man grins. "Perhaps we'll let the kid out for us, and keep the girl. She could be useful, if you know what I mean." He grabs his crotch suggestively, and Tommy's hands tighten on your waist.
Before anyone can reply to the man, the boat it filling up with water, making a new problem arise. Yelling is all you can hear as Tommy scrambled to press his fingers up to the gunshots. You help as best you can, but water is still filling up. "We have to get out of here!" You yell over the commotion, tugging on Tommy's sleeve.
Soon, the water is getting to your neck. You count to three before your whole body is covered and you push off of the floorboards with your legs. You swim your way to a ladder and climb out of the ship, gasping for air. You begin to swim towards a small family fishing boat that seems to be loading with British soldiers. You swim with all of your might until you get there, climbing the small ladder before a blonde man helps you onboard.
"This one's a girl." He gasps, shocked. You stumble onto the boat, thankful for the trousers you'd put ontop of your dress. "Are you alright, Miss?" He asks, and you nod, shaking with cold. He hands you a jacket and you thank him quietly. "I'm Peter." He says.
"Y/N." You smile. You pull the corners of the jacket closer to you, looking out at all of the men swimming towards the boat. You hadn't gotten to see if Tommy had made it out or not, but you noticed the heavy oil spills.
"You need to get out of the way, Miss." A man tells you, steering the boat so that more soldiers can get on.
"Is it alright if I stay on deck until my friend gets onboard?" You ask nervously, getting a simple nod in return. You smile graciously and pick at your nails.
A fire catches your attention quickly, bringing you to your feet. Tommy wasn't onboard yet, but you noticed Alex. Worry clawed at your insides at the mere thought of Tommy not being okay. Then you spot him. He's struggling to breathe and to swim, but he's there. You stand on the edge of the boat now, helping soldiers get on.
Grabbing Tommy's hand and waist, you help him onboard before pulling him into a tight hug. "I'm so sorry I didn't stay behind. I should have waited for you-" Tommy stops your rambling with a simple finger to your lips.
"I'm fine. I'm just glad you made it safely." He wraps his arms around your waist, resting his chin on your head. "Now, lets get below deck and out of the way." Tommy smiles softly.
You follow Tommy, not even realizing that you're holding his hand. This makes you blush, and you let go, much to his dismay. When you get to a bench, you take a towel from a shelf. You softly dab it on Tommy's face, standing between his legs. The black oil slowly comes off of his beautiful face, and your thumb rubs on his cheek and jawline for a few brief seconds.
Tommy rests his hand in the small of your back, pulling you further into him and pressing his lips to yours. You hear a few whistles from around you, but they fade away. All you can comprehend is the boy before you. All you need is the boy before you, and all you want is the boy before you.
