Alexander couldn't sleep. Not when he, and Eric were only separated by a few sheets of fabric. His thoughts would trail off to, soft kisses, and warm embraces. To hot and steamy nights, and loud moaning. When they got to that point Alexander would bury his head into his pillow, and return to those warm fluffy thoughts.
Beside him Eurielle wasn't having much luck sleeping either. She'd toss and turn, never seeming to get quite comfortable. She couldn't shake the look in Alexander's eyes, wasn't he supposed to hate her? She wouldn't be surprised if it was some kind of mask and he was secretly plotting to kill her. Eurielle's hand reaches up to grasp her mother's ribbon, it was tied loosely around her collar. What would she do in this situation? Eurielle chuckled to herself, would her mother ever get herself into this type of situation? What a story for her children.
Eurielle caught herself, children? She wasn't even sure she was going to live to see next week, and yet she was thinking about a future with children? Who would she even marry? Eurielle chuckled, surely it couldn't be..ah..I'm doing it again..she thinks turning over on her side. Her mind trails off to a certain sharp eyed captain, her heart clenches at the thought of him. He looks like the type to not want to get married..she groaned inwardly. Stop it, just stop don't think about him..
Yeah. She didn't sleep well that night.
Alexander woke up to the sound of chirping birds. He immeasurably wanted to go out and shoot those birds. However he didn't, that would give their position away to the enemy, if there even was any..he thinks bitterly. He couldn't help but feel as if this whole situation could be a wild goose chase, and really no enemy forces had made their way into the country. All of this would've been a waste of time and resources..yet they couldn't debunk the theory that they've probably managed to breach Haven boarders just yet.
He sat up, running a large hand through his silver colored hair. He heard shuffling in the tent next to him, signaling Eric was awake. He rushed to get dressed, quickly buttoning up his uniform shirt, and pulling up his trousers. He pulls on his boots, ticking his shirt into his breeches, and stumbles outside to find Eric stretching. His shirt was buttoned all the way up, his signature royal blue ribbon tied around its collar, the tails of his shirt were tucked in neatly into his trousers, he also folded them at the ends to make way for his boots. Alexander noticed Eric's hair was a lot longer than when they had first met, it was almost up to his shoulders at this point, and although long hair wasn't an uncommon look on men. It made the young man look even more girlish. He shook his head, wishing he actually was a woman, then he wouldn't have trouble denying what he felt.
Alexander didn't really know when exactly his heart began to pound around the dark haired boy. At first he absolutely despised him. Eric always got the praise, and the attention Alexander never got, from his family or rather..anyone. Even he knew, it was a childish reason to hate someone, but he just couldn't help it. It went as far as to the point he threatened the poor boy, even now he couldn't forget the look of pure fear on his face. Alexander thought it would somehow give him peace, but it never did. In fact guilt replaced that hatred, and sooner or later something else.
Alexander knew exactly when he began to look at him differently. It was a few days after that incident in the tent, they were preparing dinner for the army since one of the cooks had come down with something, and the rest of the culinary team was afraid they might have it. Since they were afraid it would spread, they sent the scouts to do the tasks instead. Watching him work in the kitchen, barking orders here and there to the others, and preparing everything with care. Alexander couldn't help but think he was a beautiful thing, and when he accidentally cut himself cutting some carrots. He wanted nothing more than to rush to his aid, and take care of him.
Just thinking about that moment made him blush a new shade of red.
Eurielle upon feeling eyes on her, turned around to see a blushing Alexander. "Ah you're awake now" she smiles gently, although it was forced. He still scared her, but he hasn't done anything to threaten her since that night in the tent, so maybe it was time to start warming up to him. Eurielle didn't know how long this war would last, and if she was stuck with him, she might as well get used to him. That was what she thought at least. Alexander merely nodded, still blushing he dove back into his tent and pulled out his bag. "I-I brought some breakfast foods, we can make them quickly and throw out the fire before we are spotted," his voice cracked slightly, "I-I mean I'm not the best cook out there so.." Eurielle laughed quietly.
"I wouldn't say I'm that good either..everyone in my village liked my cooking though, so shall I give it a try?" She smiles, Alexander's face catches on fire again, "y-yes, of course.." he passes her his bag, she opens it, seeing he had brought eggs, bacon, cheese, and bread. Not a bad combination, especially for a good breakfast. "Can you set The fire then?" She asks, he nods eagerly, and gets to work. Eurielle retrieves cooking utensils from her bag, turning to see Alexander had already set the fire. "Excellent" She beams, setting a flat iron plate over the fire.
They both quickly ate, and put out the fire, then set to putting away their camp and moving on. "I say we search through the main roads, there's a chance there might be evidence" she says as they pack the last remaining tent, and head out on their way, "yes but if they're here, and they don't want us to know, there's a chance they covered up any traces on the main roads." Eurielle put a hand to her chin, he obviously had a point if she had gone alone she would've just checked the main roads and that would've been it.
"We should check the woods first, anywhere near the streams, and in between civilian areas. Then we can check the main road," he shifts the strap of his bag to his other shoulder. "Does that sound alright?" Eurielle hastily nods, trusting his experience.
"Alright then" Alexander sighs, "let's check that stream we saw the other day, maybe we'll see something, tracks, traces of any life" Eurielle nods again, following him in the direction they had come from.

So I just wanted to clarify, Eurielle was often called a 'he' in this chapter it's because it was told from Alexander's point of view. It's not a mistake! I would often switch between two you would know who is who based on the pronouns used for Eurielle.
As for our dear little Alexander, what do you guys think of him with Eurielle? I for one think they'd be adorable. Also in their country being a same sex couple isn't illegal or anything, one of our little characters actually has a man at home waiting for him. But it's not common, hence why Alexander and even Adam has a hard time dealing with the thought of being with another man. Even though Eurielle isn't a man.
So yeah just wanted to clarify that for you all! See you next Saturday. :)
