Chapter 20

We waited for like 10 minutes at the playground but the guys never found us.

I guess that means we won.

My phone started ringing. Ezra was calling me. I answer

"Everly, im outside of the mall,come outside" he says.

"Okay, I will, bye Ezra" I say.

"Guys, I have to go, Ezra is waiting for me" I say to Susie and Rachel.

"Bye Ev!" they say.

"Bye!" I say back to them.

I climb out of the ice cream cone and start walking back to the entrance.

The man from earlier comes up to me. I wonder what he wants.

"Hi mister!" I say.

"Hi Angel, stay behind me while you walk" he says.

"Wh-" I start to speak.

"Shh,just do it" he demands.

I sigh and continue walking behind him. We finally get to the entrance and I see. Ezra, in his car, waiting for me.

I skip to his car,not caring about the guy anymore. I open the door and climb into the front seat, closing the door behind me.

I hug him to me. I missed him. I hear a knock. I look up from Ezras back to see the guy.

Ezra pats my back,insinuating for me to let go. Then he rolls down his window.

"Thanks for keeping a eye on her" Ezra said.

"Yeah, you're welcome, she was quite the hassle" he laughed and walked off.

"Ezra , who was that?" I ask, tilting my head to show my confusion.

"I don't want to lie to you, so i'll tell you, if you promise not to worry." he says, holding out a pinky.

"I promise" I say, interlocking our pinkies and shaking them.

"So, hun, the police are looking for you because when they searched your moms house they didn't find you, and you haven't been at school. I have it all under control though, don't worry, you're gonna be fine" he says.

I look at him, confused.

"The plan is, you go to your aunts house, where your siblings are, and tell her you got scared so you stayed at your friends house. Then, after she alerts the cops of your whereabouts, she'll drive you back to my place. Got that?" he asks.

"Yes" I answer, even though i'm still confused.

"Good girl, now let's get back to my place and get some of your stuff"

Ezras POV

The cops have been searching for Everly so I got my friend to keep an eye on her. I just told him she's a kid i'm babysitting. Me and Everly's aunt are colleagues, I told her the situation and she agreed to let Everly stay with me, as her house was getting crowded with Everly's siblings.

I can't believe i'm taking such big risks for a 17 year old girl. I'm usually a buissness orientated guy, I don't like spending my time dealing with other people. That is until Everly came into my classroom of course. I started feeling a urge to care and protect her, and thank god for that. Otherwise, she have might still been trying to get by in a dinghy hotel. That night after i dropped her off I just couldn't leave her, there was something off about her. I stayed parked on the road for awhile, not sure what else to do, until I saw her come back out of her house. I followed her and booked a room at the hotel.

Since then i've just been trying to help her as much as i can. She is finally mine, and i intend on keeping it that way. No one will take my Everly from me.
