Chunta held up a record, it was her new record that Kele had just bought. The expression on her face was a mix of anger and fear, only about to imagine what he was going to do to it. Where did he find it? I thought I put it away...
"Is this yours?" Both golden eyes stared intensely at the item in her father's hand, "Yes. I bought it." she stated.
With one word, a loud crunch broke out. Making Tai scream, a raw sound ripped from her throat. Chunta had just snapped it in half. The true betrayal that rippled through her whole body was strong enough to be seen by everyone in the room. The disbelief turned to disgust, into deep sorrow, and then powerful anger.
The scream came as she placed two hands upon the table. Within a second she shoved the heavy thing away from her a good three feet. A loud scrape from the wood on wood screeched. She stood up while it was moved. The table wasn't light, it took two grown men to move it in place the first time.
"Why!" A deep grumbling storm spoke from her mouth, "Why not?" His attention turned to the broken record.
"It's not like this matters. -To me." A flash of yellow came from her eyes, "This is just a piece of polyvinyl chloride." tears dared not spill.
"Kele, this is a lesson-" Words were cut off, "I. Hate. You." running upstairs before killing him would become an option.
Debbie, Nancy, her uncles, and little sister and brother called out to Taima but she was already locked in her room. The sound of her steps were so fast and quiet, you'd swear she teleported. They turned to Chunta, all giving the same expression that she had given him not a minute before. Pure raw anger and disdain from each person.
"You disgust me." The Grandmother spoke first, "How could you do that to her, Father?" young Ahusaka gasped.
"She will never forgive, nor will she ever forget...So neither will I. Brother." Nipahem, Chunta's one older brother stated as a matter of fact, in which Cynthia's younger and older brothers, Kent and Anthony nodded in agreement.
"I agree Nipa." Robin the youngest of the four brothers nodded, however, the second youngest brother Morrow to Nipahem and Chunta said nothing.
"That will teach her that she will never be one of us." Was the coldest reponse, it was known his distaste of Kele was even worse than Hunta's.
Almost as if Morrow knew that Tai wasn't his brother's daughter, he never failed to note the difference in looks compared to the rest of the kids. One day he said such things in front of the mother and he got what was coming to him. Pointing out said differences while staring down Cynthia, making her slap him across the face in anger. She stated "You will not speak about my children that way in front of me." that day.
The guilt that filled her was bottomless, she had cursed her beloved daughter to this life. All because little Weaver couldn't just suck up the crappy situation she was dealt by her own parents. Tears dripped onto the white cloth napkin on top of the fine green gown that went past both knees. All of this because I didn't love the husband that was given to me at sixteen.
Hiding the sadness, Thia wiped them with her knuckle before anyone noticed. Swallowing down any trace of emotion about the whole event. Nipahem sensed his brother's wife's feelings about it, making him stand and go see if he could talk to Kele. It was all he could do, even if he truly wanted to hug and protect them both... Walking towards the staircase, a deep inhale entered his lungs.
Tiptoeing up them, Nipah went to the teenager's room. The door locked as they had guessed, tapping on the white painted surface and waiting for any sign of life. Deep whimpers echoed from inside, he tapped again. Praying that she would open up for him at least.
"Kele, it's me. Please let me in. I know what my brother did was messed up... I'm the first to admit it. Everyone just lets him." Pah gently cooed, "I thought I should tell you something. It wasn't really the new record you bought. I read the small print." he continued.
"It was a random Beatles record. Not Hangman's Joke." Pahem revealed, sniffles paused for a moment.
Kele leaned up from her bed upon hearing the facts, unable to feel any new emotions at the reveal. Dragging herself to the door, she unlocked it. Allowing her uncle to twist it open, without a word, they embraced. Her small shaking form pressed against his broad chest. Tiana's fawn mane tangled and unkempt from crying and frustration.
Both pony tails had pretty much fallen out, but Nipa didn't care. His large hands and fingers combed through it, helping to calm the storm within his little niece. Ke only cried more at the gesture that she wasn't used to. Nuzzling her nose into his flannel shirt, trying to hide the tears from him. Though Tia knew he didn't care about that, she had to let the feelings out otherwise they would consume her soul.
These events help to define who the little Sparrow became in the future.
