"Daddy!" I watched Luc yell through the reflection in the mirror. She turned around and threw her arms around me then Caroline, Louis, Ashlee (Louis' wife), and Trevor (Louis and Ashlee's five year old son). "I thought you guys couldn't make it!"

"We couldn't miss your big opening night for the world!" Louis yelled, giving her a second hug.

I watched her smile grow ten times bigger. Tonight was the opening night of her high school's play, Romeo and Juliet. My baby girl snagged the role of Juliet. She turned into a true performer, just like me. I could never keep her off a stage growing up. She loved being the center of attention. Eventually our crowd of people died down and left to take their seats, leaving me and Lucia alone.

"I'm so proud of you Luc," I mumbled into her hair as she gave me another one of her magical hugs.

"Thanks, Daddy. It means a lot," I heard her mumble, holding back tears of her own.

I pulled away from her. "I love you, baby girl."

"I love you too, Daddy," she smiled at me.

I gave her another quick hug before starting to walk away, but stopping again. "Oh! And I don't want to see that kiss last any longer than three seconds, you hear me?" I asked sternly.

I watched Lucia roll her eyes, "Yeah, yeah," she said shooing me off to finish getting ready.

Watching the play was the hardest thing I've ever had to do. She looked so grown up and in her element on stage. She had just turned eighteen the month earlier and would be leaving and going off to bigger and better things, leave me behind. Not gonna lie, it was terrifying. I always prepared myself for this day, but I never expected it to come so soon. Letting her go is going to be a challenge, but it's the only way for her to grow and become the beautiful woman she is turning into. I just wish there was a pause button. Or some way to slow down time, I'm not ready to lose my little girl yet.
