I was sitting on the couch in our living room munching on a new bag of chips while watching the Friends rerun on TV when I heard the front door open and slam shut. "Luc?" I yelled, "Wanna come watch Friends with your old man?" I chuckled a bit to myself, until I saw her standing in the doorway, staring back at me with glassy eyes. "Luc?" I asked. She didn't have to answer, she ran into my arms and I pulled her close, rubbing down her frizzy red hair and shushing her sobs. I felt my shirt quickly becoming wet, but her sobs slowling and she eventually pulled away.

"I made a mistake, Daddy," she said quietly.

I pushed hair out of her face and rubbed a few tears away with the pads of my thumbs. "Nothing we can't fix. I'm sure."

She shook her head and let out a shakey breath. "It's over." she said quietly.

"What's over?" I asked, confused.

"Matt," she said ripping the heart necklace he had given her from her neck. "He dumped me," she said threw a few more sobs.

I pulled her close again, "What happened, baby girl?" I asked, trying to keep level headed for her sake. Lucia looked up at me, with scared eyes. "Luc..." I trailed off. "What happened?"

I watched her bite her lip, yet another trait she got from her late mother. She pushed a few strands of hair from her face and looked up at me through her eye lashes. "Umm... well.." she struggled for words.

That's when it hit me. "Baby," I started. "Did you and Matt..." I trailed off, feeling hate in the pit of my stomach, "Did Matt make you..." I trailed off again, feeling anger fun through my body.

"Daddy..." Luc said through tears. She didn't say another word, but she nodded.

I sighed and pulled her close. When did my little girl grow up so fast? She graduated high school only a few months ago, now she was enrolled in the local Uni, so she could still live at home. I felt so much anger towards Matt right now. He didn't have the right to sleep with my baby girl then throw her out like last night's left overs. But I didn't have a chance to feel mad.

Luc and her feelings were the most of my worries right now. I made sure to kiss her head and tell her everything would be okay. Eventually, she calmed down and we both enjoyed the rest of the Friends marathon. For now, we both felt content. However, like every protective father, I knew I would be doing something protective towards Luc tomorrow morning. That boy won't get away with breaking my baby's heart that easily.
