"Legend says that all mermaids start out as humans, and when they transform, they have weird dreams about water, and love it. They start forming gills and can breath underwater," he said, looking at me intensely.

"What? Oh, I mean, I'm sorry for your loss." I said, hoping he would notice I was scared.

"I mean you have all those symptoms, but you don't believe in mermaids, right? I mean, that was just a legend," he said.

"Oh yeah, I don't believe in mermaids. They are s-so fake, ri-right?" I said, clearly panicking.

"Yeah, but um, are you okay? You look like you've just seen a ghost."

"Yeah, yeah I'm fine. Just a little hot."I answered.

"Well then, if your hot, we can cool down at the beach," he said walking towards the cafe door.

"Uh okay, sure," I said, regretting everything I just said. What if I am a mermaid? What if he sees me? I mean, they killed his own mother.

We got down to the beach, and he jumped into the water.

"Come on," he said, beckoning me into the water.

You know what? Mermaids are fake and I'm not one of them. I think I'm overreacting. I thought.

I jumped in and without thinking I said, "This would be a really nice date."
Immediately I regretted it, blushed, and looked away.

I've always wanted to go  on a date in the ocean. It seems like the right amount of romantic but also fun at the same time. I kind of wish Anthony was my boyfriend.

He has all the perfect qualities.

Anthony didn't seem surprised though and just grinned at me, his cheeks turning red.

"I wish this was a date," he said his cheeks, getting even redder.

Before I could say anything, I was hit with a sharp pain in my stomach.

It felt lile a thousnad knifes were hitting my lower stomach.

It hurt so bad that I couldn't say anything.

It hurt when I breathed.

It hurt when I moved.

I felt myself being paralyzed and I took my last breath, the shooting pain continuing.

As I went under, I saw Anthony rushing towards me in a panic.

I wish I could've done something but I couldn't.

I was just sinking, waiting for the water to swallow me whole

"Aquaria, are you okay? What's wrong? Talk to me!" He said trying to revive me.

All I could do was look at his frightened face as I slipped under the water completely and into unconsciousness.
