In 'The Rime of the Ancient Mariner'
Where did justifying get the ship's crew?
Nowhere.
Nowhere and dead.
Dead and sunk below the sea.
I apologize for my shallowness.
I do not justify this feeling,
It's wrong.
Envy is wrong:
The green-eyed monster has woken up again
Much to my horror
Prompting me to rethink things unnecessarily.
I don't want to rethink.
I don't want to feel this.
The green-eyed monster,
She points to what has woken her again
And says: "You wish that was you,
So badly.
But that's a role you cant be.
A hole you can't fill.
Something you'll never have.
And you,
You shallow stupid girl
Should feel guilty as h*ll for feeling this way."
And I
claw
and
fight
with the feeling
of
envy
that is
now awake
and
must be
silenced.
...
Then I remember
that envy is a liar.
Not everything she not-so-subtly whispers in your ear is true.
I need to remember that.
I keep seeing myself reaching out
Reaching out in a dark expanse
Perhaps in vain
For the thing she--
Envy--
Has woken for.
I need to remember.
I need to remember.
