When we arrived at Foxfire, Ash spotted Chris and immediately dashed over to him. As usual, we were early, but the Dizznee's also arrived early. Having no other choice, I bowed my head and followed her.
As usual, I followed Ash's footsteps. Even though I tried not to notice, I could see people looking at me with the usual looks on their faces and I heard the usual whispers.
"God," a girl with dark skin and reddish hair whispered. "You would think that Rose was Ash's servant!"
"Yeah," the girl she was whispering to said. "I mean, they are supposed to be twins, but look at how Rose follows Ash around! I mean like, does Rose even have any friends or does she just follow her twin around?"
My face turned red and I walked a little faster. I tried to hide my face in my dark hair. "I have friends!" I wanted to shout. "Ximena is my best friend!" I wanted to say. I wanted to protest and defend myself. I opened my mouth, then closed it. I just couldn't do it.
I moved even faster, starting to jog now, just hoping that Ash wouldn't hear, hoping that she wouldn't defend me and make the rumors worse.
Too bad that it was hopeless. Ash heard and she turned around, her face steaming red. The only good thing was that the teachers weren't here. It was too early.
"What did you say about my sister?" Ash asked. "What did you say?"
When nobody spoke, Ash raised her voice louder. "What did you say?! What did you say!"
Nobody responded. Ash walked up to the two girls who I had heard whispering about me. "Taylor, Penny, what did you say about Rose?!!"
Taylor, the girl with reddish hair cowered under Ash's glare. "Nothing Ash."
"Are you sure it was nothing?" Ash said. "Tell me the truth and everything will be fine!"
Taylor's face turned bright red. Ash bit her lip. My sister was all bark and no bite. I knew that she wouldn't actually hurt her.
"Well? Listen to Ash! What did you say?!" Chris said, stepping beside my sister, crossing his arms. "What did you say about Ash's sister?!"
I turned red. Wow. Even Chris didn't know my name. Did everyone just regard me as Ash's sister? I wanted to vanish right there and hold it for as long as possible, but I didn't want coward to be added to the list of things people teased me about.
Penny twirled her blond hair at the sight of Chris and batted her eyelashes, who I was pretty sure that she had a huge crush on. I really couldn't blame her. Chris was really tall and quite good looking with his blond hair and blue eyes.
Trust me. I didn't like him. Okay fine. I used to like Chris, but I had stopped liking him some time ago back when we were in Level 2. Also, I was pretty sure that Chris liked Ash, but I never mentioned this to my sister as I was pretty sure she hated him and would be disgusted.
Penny giggled. "We said nothing Chris," she said. "Anyways, I have an idea and I wanted to talk to you about it, so...Do you wanna go talk a walk with me?" she asked, batting her eyelashes.
I wanted to roll my eyes, then remembered my place and didn't. Ash rolled her eyes.
"Really Penny? None of us are falling for that. Tell me what you were saying about my sister!" Ash said. Chris nodded along with her.
"I swear!" Taylor said. "We just said what a lot of people say about how Rose always follows you around! I promise that we said nothing else!"
Ash nodded and walked away with Chris. They began to talk about some other stuff and totally forgot about me.
