I am here and I am queer.

It's been a little less than a day since my meeting with Jacky and let me tell you, I was wrong about him.

As I walked around the block to the bar, I noticed Laurens across the way. I, of course, threw up a salute all in good humor, only to receive one back. And then he smiled, oh how he smiled. I've never seen anything quite like that, I've got to admit. He has great teeth. Wonderful, fantastic teeth. I would gladly allow him to eat my hand with those teeth. Very white teeth, with sharp canines. He doesn't exactly have thin lips, but they aren't huge, or uneven; just right for stretching across his face into a sly grin that makes a man go...

I grabbed the door handle and pushed my way inside. I was going to meet Burr to see what advice he could give to me. I hope it's something of importance, the walk is a bit brisk this time of year. It's also icy, and I almost slid and tore my britches right in front of Jack. That would have been absolutely humiliating.

As I walked into the room, I spotted Burr sitting at the bar, a brew in his hand. Absolutely fantastic that he arrived before me, way to make me feel bad, dude. As I hung my coat up I watched Burr walk across the floor to me, along with his cup. He leaned against the wall and started to speak.

"You wanted me to meet you here?"

He raised an eyebrow. I nodded.

"You're late, Alexander."

"Right. My sincerest apologies to you, sir. I needed to know if you had any advice to offer me, as I enrolled at King's College, and I'd like to know how you graduated so fast. 2 years, right?"

"Yes."

"So, how'd you do it, how'd you graduate so fast," I inquired, walking to the bar.

"It was my parents' dying wish before they passed," he replied, following behind me. He put his elbows on the table next to me, and looked up, eyes full of mystery. I couldn't believe he was an orphan, too. We have so much in common!

"You're an orphan, of course- I'm an orphan. God! I wish there was a war then we could prove we're more than anyone bargained for."

Then he offered to buy me a drink, and you don't turn a man down when he offers to do so.

"Let me offer you some free advice," he said, sliding a few coins across the bar. Thank god he was able to tell me something besides his tragic past that we would totally bond over.

"Talk less."

What?

"Smile more."

What's wrong with my typical face?

"Don't let them know what you're against or what you're for," he said, putting his cup to his mouth.

"You can't be serious," I said, shaking my head.

"You wanna get ahead?"

"Yes," I said. Who wouldn't?

"Fools who run their mouths off wind up dead."

After that, we talked a bit more, and he told me about the Schuyler Sisters. Aaron totally has a thing for Angelica, you can tell by the way he talks about her so kindly. She seems hard-headed but strong and strategic, much like Burr himself.

Talking to Burr was nice and I immediately felt a strong bond with him, although we hadn't known each other for more than a few hours. He offered to walk me home after our discussion, but I politely declined, as I needed to ponder what he'd said.
