After hours of internal debating, pacing my room and discussing with Ella, I finally muster the courage to do it. I pull up the picture and my finger hovers over the send button. My heart pounds violently in my chest and my adrenaline starts pumping. "Ah!" I press the send button, then chuck my phone across the room.

Hey Jesse, this is Lana! I found the picture!
"Lana?" my dad calls from downstairs.
"Sorry dad, I'm fine!"
"What?"
With a sigh of mild annoyance, I leave my room and call back, over the staircase "Sorry dad, I'm fine!"
"Oh, uh...alright." He looks up at me from downstairs. He has his glasses sitting on the tip of his nose and a computer in his lap. He looks up at me with a confused expression, but he doesn't question my outburst.
I reenter my room, close my door behind me and collapse on my bed. I stare anxiously at my phone on the floor that's face down. I won't know if he's replied until I pick it back up. "Uugghh," I moan in frustration and smush my face into my bed. "Why am I like thiiiss?" I complain into my bedsheets. An eternity goes by and I bang my head on my bed. "I'm. So. Stupid. Why. Did. I-" A soft ding emanates from my phone. I snap my head up from my bed and stare, wide-eyed, at the small object on the floor. Was it him? My heart rate starts picking up and I slowly climb off my bed and lay on the floor. My head looms over the phone and I touch it and take a deep breath before flipping it over and turning it on.

As we text back and forth, time speeds by and before I know it, its midnight. I'm surprised by how easy it is for me to talk to him. Usually when I first meet someone, even when I'm texting them, it takes me an annoyingly long amount of time to open up. It took like months before Ella and I started texting the way that we do, but with Jesse it's effortless. He texts me again and I immediately go to reply.
Dang its midnight already
I was just thinking that lol
Time went by so fast lol
Yknow something Lana
You're really fun to talk to
Awh thnk you ^^ so are you!
Honestly it's a bit easier to talk like this
When I text I have more time to think
Yeah I get that
I feel like I can see your true colors coming out here >:)
Pfft true colors? What does that even mean lol
lol idk, I guess I can just tell that ur more comfortable here
Oh, well yeah that's true. Talking to people in person is just hecka stressful
Yeah? Is talking to me stressful?
Pssh no of course not
Reeaally? That's not what it seemed like.
'o' whaaat, what do u mean?
Heh nothin nothin ;) I'll see you at school tomorrow
Oh and btw
-_- 'nothin' yeah right
We should start talking in person more, this was fun
And shhh haha goodnight
Oh! Yeah we should c:
I feel my eyelids growing heavy and I yawn. Now that my adrenaline's worn off my energy levels have plummeted. I snuggle deeper under the covers and smile a little. This feeling of hope and excitement bubbling inside of me. Feeling content and happy, I start to text goodnight, but sleep pulls me under before I can press send.
