Three days.
Three days of waiting for may mate to wake just to look into her beautiful green eyes again.
Three days of listening to my wolf complaining, growling and snapping at the fact that our mate was so close but we could not yet claim her. Then he would purr softly at the fact that we were cocooned in her scent.
For those three days I had hardly left her side apart from to meet with my dad to discuss what had happened at Scott's house. When I explained about Scott's eyes and the fact that he ignored an Alphas order my dad had shook his head sadly. Apparently his depression over Cora had gotten so bad he was slowly turning rogue.
A wolf lives for their mate. When your mate dies it is literally like half of you dies with them. Your soul feels cut in half and there's a void that no matter what you do you can't seem to fill it. A werewolf can easily turn crazy over the loss of their mate.
There had only ever been two incidents in our pack history of a wolf turning rogue due to a deep depression over their loss. Scott Winslow was about to become the third unless we found him....and soon.
My dad had immediately upped our patrols and formed four hunting groups. Each group contained two trackers, three guardians, one hunter and one healer. They were told to find Scott and bring him back unharmed.
He could still be saved as long as he didn't kill anyone in cold blood. The minute he killed in cold blood he would become a full rogue and lost to us for good. The only thing that was baffling us was what had caused Scott to go back into a state of depression and a deep one at that.
No one was allowed in my room as me and my wolf went into protective mode. We were suspicious of everyone and anyone who tried to get too close so they resorted to leaving my food outside my bedroom door and communicating with me through the link.
The nights were the worst though; I was amazed at how many cold showers I could have in one night and still end up right back in the same boat once I climbed back into bed. I spent so many hours just watching her sleep it was borderline stalkerish and obsessive, but regardless I had my mate.
She wasn't even aware of us but her just being in my bed was enough.
Her bruises were healing a lot quicker than they would of had she been human, but the fact that she was a wolf and my mate; she had been healing pretty quickly. Plus there was the fact that our bond was already pretty strong. We had already looked into each other's eyes and cuddling up to her at night had deepened our physical connection, all that was left was for her to wear my mark and the actual mating.
I briefly wondered how she would feel about that. I was aware at the back of my mind that I hadn't given her a choice and had strengthened our bond without any say on her part but I couldn't help myself. My wolf was itching to claim her and it took all my strength to behave around her and not mark her.
Three days of sweet torture and she was finally awake. She was awake and already she was trying to leave me!!
Looking into her green eyes when she had fallen off of the bed was just....indescribable. The tumult of feelings that assaulted me was scary but intoxicating at the same time. Looking into her eyes only confirmed the overwhelming love I already felt for her.
I could sense her agitation and nervousness, but dealing with the fear and pain was too much to handle even for me. She hid it well but it resonated off her in waves and I could feel my wolfs turmoil at not being able to help our mate yet.
