Dahlia's POV
I flung my hands up to my ears as soon as the boys shrieking screams echoed through my ears and seemingly down my spine.
"Would you shut it!" I yelped, though I doubt they heard me through their continued wails.
They were both clinging to each other as they quickly inched away from the figures in front of us till their backs hit the wall. There was three people, all men that were holding some type of weapon, seemingly made out of the remains of the town.
Crap. I had forgotten about the obstacles. I knew one house had something in it, just didn't know which one or what waited inside.
They looked like normal people, just accessorized with tatters of the remains of you average clothes, t-shirts and jeans, though they had no shoes for whatever reason.
Well, neither did anyone else. Except me.
I picked up a bowl that had been sitting on the table since it had gotten left behind, the dust that had crusted it flinging in my face as I chucked it at the middle guy.
He didn't even have a chance to shriek at his injury before he and the others around him began to melt into a white colored conjoined puddle on the floor.
"Ew.." I heard Wort say before Larky began to cuss even more about how he hated this town, all the while still clinging to the other boy.
I could've drowned him and everyone else, I could still fix my problem just as easy without them. He should be thankful I spared him and the others.
I didn't even have time to finished my thoughts when the white liquid began to solidify into a new form, a taller one, but still human. The person -well figure, creature- sprang back to life and was now replaced with the shape of a seemingly middle aged women.
Huh, we had a guy the last time I was here... And he didn't melt.
I was almost more shocked at how at ease I was with the whole situation as the lady's strawberry blonde hair sprouted out of her head, and her arms and body shape began to form. Her eyes popped out of her sockets that had just finished forming, while her teeth sprung out one by one from the hole I assumed to be her mouth. Once she was fully formed she had a huge creepy smile plastered across her face. Her white sweater and slick black pants not showing a single drop of the white liquid she had once been.
"Who are you..?" I heard Wort ask from behind me, his voice smothered with disgust at what he had just witnessed.
He still held a tight grip on Larky's arm as he stepped forward to try and add the effect that he wasn't afraid of her when really, you could see him shaking from top to bottom.
He spoke the words I was too shut down to say. Too far away from sanity. From being okay.
The women giggled at his question and practically skipped towards us, her freak of a smile still there all the while.
What was so funny to her?
"Aw, I was hoping they had been wrong," her smile drooped as she inched closer to Wort, her nose inches away from his.
Before she could get another word in Larky yanked him a few feet back from where he had stepped out. He glared at the lady as Wort continued to shake like a maraca.
"But it turns out they had been right about you guys knowing absolutely nothing," she backed away to her original spot. "It would've been fun to hear you wine about your old lives," she turned back to us, her smile nonexistent for the time being. "Oh that's right!" She snapped, her grin returning with in an instant. "You had horrible lives! Which is why your here. No one else wanted you around, or more so cared if you weren't there.." She became more suspicious as the sentence ended, and she shot a knowing glare at Wort as he still cling to Larky's tan skinned arm. He began to squeeze it tighter from the lady's stare.
"You never answered our question," Larky spoke up, "who are you?" He narrowed his eyes to emphasize his point.
Her face went bleak.
"You guys are no fun," She grumbled as she folded her arms, completely ignoring the question.
"We said who are you!?" Larky repeated, his anger showing through in his speech like a sore thumb.
"Fern." She stood up straight and glanced over at me, slight annoyance at my appearance showing.
Crap. She knows I don't belong.
"Fae Fern." She looked me up and down, examining my partially torn white shirt and sunset colored plaid skirt.
Heh, with my looks I seem like a goody two shoes at first glance. Good thing I'm not.
"Hmm," She continued to examine me as she got closer.
I stood my ground.
"They said there was only supposed to be four in this round of KI tests, a pair of alliances for each FK.." she seemed more serious now.
What the heck was with this lady? She has like ten different personalities!
"Well," she glanced back at the two boys who were still gripped tight to the other. "I guess it'll be good to have side person to observe it all.. Kinda like an extra lab assistant," she whispered to herself under her breath.
Praise the gods that the others didn't hear her.
"That still doesn't explain what.. happened when you.. shifted bodies.." Wort stuttered out, failing to hide his obvious fear.
"Right!" Her smile beamed back as if it had never left. "I'm part of the FKA, Floral Kingdom Association. We're looking for new candidates to rule our floral worlds -er realms." Her face exploded with elation as if it was the single best thing that had ever been said. "And I myself have been chosen specifically for these training sequences being as I'm from the Floral realms." Her face turned to a sense of pride. "Which, like you asked," she glared at Wort, "is why I shifted from my crazed pack of murderous men. I didn't think you'd like that form very much as I explained everything to you." Her face went flat.
"Well, why'd you have to erase our memories?" Wort asked, his voice sounding steadier.
Her entire expression flipped to an annoyed look.
It reminded me of myself.
"If you would let me finish I'll explain that," she barked.
Wort jumped back at the revoke; Larky shot a glare at Fae.
"Since this project is far from being known to the general public, being as it is still going through getting set up, and figuring out how to move the citizens into the realms.." she looked off to the side, as if unsure of herself.
I swear this lady can't be just one person!
"But! That's why we're training you guys!" Her smile had returned.
"What do you mean train us?" I finally opened my mouth since she had appeared, my throat hurting from the lack of use.
She shot a glare at me upon hearing my voice.
Back to the mean one.
"Well, we need rulers for these kingdoms of course, and since most don't know what to expect from here, we've decided to pick the ones who are no longer needed in the outside world. You're our candidates." She explained in a slow emotionless tone.
Now a new side.
"What do you mean the outside world?" Larky spat out at her, his voice rough with anger.
"Isn't it obvious?" She inquired, her grin returning. "We're inside the floral kingdom realm!"
