Camellia's POV
The screams had stopped, but we were still darting in, around, and out of almost every rickety pile of wood left still standing in the abandoned town.
"Wort! Larky! Dahlia!" Sun shouted, taking a breather on the rotting deck of one of the shacks. "Where are you guys!"
Out of nowhere I sensed that someone was behind me, not someone we knew.
I was about to whip my head back to see who was there, but I was too late.
My entire left arm had been sliced clean off of my body.
The weird thing though is I didn't feel a single ounce of pain, nor drop of blood trickle out.
Just one swift clean cut, seemingly done with a long extended butter knife.
I finally made my way behind me and saw that there stood four people.
One, Larky and Wort clinging to each other for dear life at what they saw. Two, Dahlia, her face actually showing genuine shock.
Then three, the lady that had cut my arm. She had long reddish blonde hair, a minty white sweater topped with jet black pants and zero shoes.
None of us had shoes. Why?
Surprisingly my eyes didn't shrink, and I didn't turn pale.
Not until I saw it.
Seemingly a miniature version of my missing limb began to sprout out from its socket and extend its self back into its regular position.
It had grown back.
But how?
"Ha! It does work!" The lady flashed an unearthly large smile.
"Are you mad!?" Sun screamed at her, both horror and disgust hiding beneath his every breath.
The women's expression changed as quickly as a lion sprinting to pounce on its prey. Her entire vibe went dark and gloomy as she shot a glare at the shook boy.
"What worked?" Wort piped up from behind her, his presence gaining a small slice of courage.
She darted her eyes back at him, and began to wear a warm smile once more.
"Why her powers of course!" She beamed.
This lady was a roller coaster personified if I'd ever seen one.
"Our what?" Sun interjected.
She turned back to face him, this time without the death stare covering her face.
"Each of you got a special serum injected into your systems before your memories were erased. They grant each of you special abilities. Abilities you'll certainly need during training.." she had a dark, grim curve up to her lip that sent a chill down my spine.
"Even though that makes me even more skeptical of you and why we're here, that still doesn't explain why you had to cut Camellia's freaking arm off!" His face was flushed red with anger at the women's presence.
And honestly, I was starting to dislike her as the seconds ticked by as well.
"Aw, that's adorable!" She exclaimed- Sun now even redder. "How you use the names of the flower containing your kingdoms!" She wiped a tear that trickled out of her eye upon her sudden laughter.
"What kingdoms ya old hag?" Larky spat out at her.
She shot a glare that was about ten times worse than her first at him at the mention of his question.
"If I wasn't under oath to train you four I'd have slit your throat by now for calling me that."
Larky went silent after that, his grip tightening on Wort's arm.
"But seeing as we are in your realm, I guess I should answer your questions. Being as Ralph isn't here too." She mumbled the last part to herself. "Like I already told you three," She motioned to Dahlia, Larky, and Wort. "We're in the Floral Realms. And these realms are considered to be each one separate kingdom. For example, right now we are in your kingdom," she stuck out a finger and pointed it at Larky.
"Then why is it all.. dead?" He had opened his mouth and forgotten about her threat for the time being.
"Because of the flower your kingdom's portal is on!" She spat out, her face starting to flush red. "Jeez, don't you kids learn anything..?" She groaned to herself.
"Look lady-," Sun began before getting cut off.
"My names Fae." She spoke with seemingly no emotion whatsoever.
"Fine. Look, Fae, we can't learn anything if you keep shouting all the information at us. So why don't you calm down and take us to, I dunno, who'd you say was supposed to be here? Ralph was it?" He sounded like a defenseless man begging for his life.
Who was Ralph?
Her expression grew warmer at his attempt to negotiate. Too warm.
"Ah, I see your power is working just fine as well!" She beamed. "What is it you decided to call yourself? Sunflower? That seems somewhat long to be a name." She spoke in a sweet calm, more knowledgeable, voice.
"Ca- I mean me. I shortened it to just Sun." His face began to flush a slight red upon trying to collect his thoughts. He looks adorable when he's flustered.
Fae simply nodded.
"Ok then, now that we know your hearing enhancement works, I guess we should bring you four-," she looked over at Dahlia. "Hmm. You five to the station back on the beach. Maybe Ralph won't be busy by time we get there.." again with the mumbling.
She began to walk through the rows of old grey houses towards a new path, steering clear of the beach we had woken up on.
"Um, where are we going?" Wort asked after we were about ten minutes into the walk.
"We're headed back to the FR Institute." Fae didn't bother turning around to answer, nor to elaborate on what it meant either.
We just nodded.
Everyone was silent, our bare feet hitting the sandy pebbles providing the only sound besides the wind. We were walking up the winding track of some sort of small mountain type landform. It seemed to be too slanted to be able to climb to the very top. Out of nowhere Fae took a sharp turn into a cave that was practically built into the side of the mountain. We all stood there for a second, unsure if we were supposed to follow her or not. After about a minute of her continuing to trudge through the cave we all filled in after her.
That's when I saw it.
A bright blinding glow emitting from the center of the cave. It was shaped like a floating oval that had only the soul purpose of defying gravity.
I barley heard Larky begin to cuss out our creepy surroundings, and how he was going to sue whoever was behind all of this. Fae didn't seem to notice as she turned around and held her hands up as if to tell us to: stop.
"Okay. I know you guys have no reason to trust what I'm about to tell you, but you've got to." She looked genuinely concerned that one of us wouldn't agree with her.
But why?
She sighed before resuming, "I'm going to need you to take a running start from back here where I am, and jump off the mountain."
We all broke out in a chorus of questions and hatred. Larky had continued to cuss, Wort simply saying: "Yeah!" At the end of each of his friend's sentences. Sun was pacing around the cave as his face began to flush redder and redder at every turn he made. But Dahlia and I just stood there watching everyone.
I didn't have anytime to explain to anyone why I was doing what I was about to do.
I calmly walked over to where Fae stood and turned back to face the entrance of the cave. Then I ran.
I ran faster than I ever remembered running before. I darted past all of the heated one sided arguments that had broken out, past the only people I currently knew. No one turned to look at me until I had already reached the edge of the cliff.
The I jumped.
