A/N: See video for more info in Von Steuben, although some of the facts are different for some reason?? I'm pretty sure I'm right, but I could be wrong...just pick which version you like best??

It's kind of ironic that our first president was completely fine with gay people, but our current one isn't. (It's 2019,  get with the program already!!!)

Ok so to show how woke Washington was, I'll have to tell you a bit about Von Steuben. Steuben originally lived in Prussia and was trained by the king for war, but was later kicked out for being gay(ironically by the king of Prussia, who was gay). He fled to France but then realized that it was illegal to be gay in France, so Steuben ended up traveling to America to fight in the war. He was openly gay and would not deny accusations of sleeping with other men. Steuben was really good at training the soldiers how to be in a real army, and by that, I mean really good. He taught them how to fight and even things like cleaning their teeth to prevent diseases. Unfortunately, Steuben didn't speak english(or at least wasn't good at it) and no one had any idea what he was shouting...Except for this one guy. He spoke both Prussen and English and was able to translate what Steuben said. This guy's name was Du Ponceau, who later became Steuben's "friend."

So, now that the backsory's out of the way, back to Washington. Washington was actually very accepting of gay people(I don't know if Steuben changed his views or what, but he just was.) He would never kick them out of the army--unless people became suspicious and he would have no choice. When he did kick the out,  that would be all he did. Washington never; torchered, jailed, killed, fined, exilied, humiliated, or tarnished the reputation of gay people that were forced to leave his army. Washington just sent them on their merry way. Some of Washington's most closes staff(Hamilton, Laurens, Lafayette, ect.) he actually considered his 'family' and after the war, Washington even bought Steuben and Du Ponceau a house so they could live together.

Also, since this Fic is about lams, here's some lams. I am 99% sure that Washington was fully aware of Hamilton's and Laurens' Relationship. Although you probably already know this, Washington made Hamilton and Laurens share a tent, room, and bunk together. Not to mention, I'm pretty sure no one else was also sleeping in their room at Valley Forge, even though there were only 3 rooms to spare for the staff.

A/N: Also is you want to know more about some other LGBT+ people in Washington's army, just tell me and I'll write it.
