[So here it is my lovelies! My first portal fanfic! Im really excited about this and I'm really loving writing it! It pretty much has a bunch of my favorite game theory's in it, mostly that Chell is Caves and Caroline's daughter. It just gets me going; I could rant forEVER on that theory! Anyway, I hope you love it as much as I do!❤]
~Caroline's POV~
"Cave..."
"I could live forever, Caroline! I can run this facility. It needs my care. It's like our child. We've done this together!"
I thought of the unborn child within me. 'But, we already have one...' I couldn't bare to tell home though. He only had 7 months left to live. The more I thought about telling him, the more I could picture his face; first joyful and excited, then it would fall as he realized he might not even see the child. I am only 4 months pregnant. And besides that, now with what ever the moon rocks had done to him, what if he wouldn't even want the child? What if he would think it would hold us back?
I just couldn't.
We sat out side of Apertures main office, on the lawn. The picnic blanket I had spread flattened the lush grass under it. It is still beautiful here, despite that we are running out of money. Cave smiles at me. His pale face wrinkles. It is become clearer every day that he is unwell.
"Just think, we could convert everyone. We could stop worrying about paying them!" He exclaims, looking up at the great building.
"Cave! They have families. You can't just make them all robots." I shake my head. "This is impractical. Humans are made to live, then die, and the world moves on. Aperture will fade in time, anyway."
He looks at me with a frown. Taking my hands he says,
"No, no, darling. We only die because we haven't found eternal life yet. We can be gods! Don't you understand?"
15 Years ago, this was just a field. We had a picnic, and talked about our future together.
"We should have a business." I said, laying on my back staring up at the clouds dreamily.
"Yes, right in this field!" Cave replied.
He sat up and looked around. It was beautiful here, and I knew we could do anything.
"Yes!" I agreed, sitting up as well.
He turned to me, and frowned. "But what would we do?"
"Make shower curtains!" I laughed.
"Perfect!"
"What will we call it?"
"... Aperture Fixtures." Cave said, grinning and moving his hand across the sky after thinking for a moment.
"Haha, perfect." I said. I thought he was joking.
"No, but really! This," he made a box with his hand and squinted through it. "this will be the future!"
I laughed happily.
"And you and me," Cave said, taking my hands in his, "We'll do it together."
Ever since, we has a picnic on this field, to remember that day.
He looks at me now with that same look, but it's almost corrupted. Cave was once brave and independent. He was always looking for a way to move forward.
Most importantly, he never gave up, ever.
But now, Cave didn't see what he was doing. He was pushing too hard, and not working for the good side of science anymore. I couldn't understand what those moon rocks had done to him.
