The sports festival was happening at U.A. High. Every hero in Japan came to watch as the next generation of heroes were competing one another for the top rank.
In the Obstacle Race, Shouto Todoroki made it to 1st with Katsuki Bakugou 2nd and Tenya Iida 3rd.
Next was the Calvary Battle. All students got into their teams and battle for their headbands. The winner was Team Todoroki thanks to Iida's Quirk: Engine.
The final event for the festival was the Battle Tournament.
"Thanks for waiting! Next up is... these guys! He's good! He's good, but what's up with that plainness he just can't get rid of? From the hero course, it's Sero Hanta!" Present Mic announced.
"That's mean." Sero said in a hurt tone.
"Versus-- Taking second, then first in the prelims! You're way too strong kid! He wasn't recommended for admission for nothing! Also from the hero course, it's Shouto Todoroki! And now, for the second match for the finals--"
"I don't think I can win..." Sero muttered.
"Ready... Start!"
"But, there's no way I'm going to lose, either!" Sero went for a surprise attack. However...
Todoroki stopped himself from being out of bound and froze Sero with a powerful force of ice that was big as the stadium, spiking until it was outside.
"Don't... Don't you think it's a bit much..." Sero asked, frozen.
"Sero, can you move?" Midnight asked, half of her body frozen in ice.
"O-Of course n-not. Ow..." Sero replied.
"Sero is immobilize! Todoroki is the winner." Midnight announced.
"Don't mind!" The audience exclaimed.
Todoroki went over to Sero and placed his left hand on Sero's frozen body.
"Sorry, I went overboard. I was angry." Shouto said.
Before the next match could be announced a person in a black cloak appeared behind the icy student.
"Who are you?" Asked the student.
"Gotta say, that strange facade had me fooled at first, brother." The person spoke, removing his hood, revealing himself as Vanitas. "I am Vanitas."
Every hero watched in confusion. Midnight was ready to intervene when a barrier was placed around the arena.
"This whole world... was protected by those who call themselves heroes. They protect only for money and fame. And with that the 20% who are Quirkless are beaten and left to rot in the dirt. It's as rich a source of negative emotion as we'll ever find." He said.
