New York isn't New York without you, love.
There have been few times where Taylor Swift was actually numb. At a loss for emotions, for words. The tears streaming down her face might say indicate to a stranger that she's sad, but they'd be wrong. Sad, heartbroken, even devastated would be too simple, to light to explain the feelings taking over Taylor at the moment. Her body was paralyzed, standing in the same spot, staring at the same door her girl-, No, her ex-girlfriend, had walked out off fifteen minutes ago. In all honesty, Taylor had to have known this was coming. Things would just never be the same with them, but she didn't expect it to happen like this. She didn't expect Karlie and her to get into an argument, she didn't expect for Karlie to give up like this. Suddenly, Taylor finally felt something. She needed to leave. Everything in New York was too Karlie. Just looking around her apartment she couldn't help but be reminded of the model. Taylor pulls out her phone to text her pilot and hurried up the stairs to pack, desperate to run.

It's been 9 days. Taylor's phone buzzes. Nothing anybody's told her this past week and a half has particularly interested her. But it's her text tone. Taylor shouldn't want to know anything Karlie has to tell her, but she still searches around her Nashville condo for her phone.
How are you?
You aren't in New York huh? I can feel it
I probably shouldn't say this but I miss you. And I'm sorry.
Taylor stares at her phone screen. She remembered that Karlie had just arrived back Paris today, and that was the reason she was texting her. Why did Karlie deserve to know if she was okay? Wasn't Karlie the person who broke her heart?
How can you tell?, Taylor sent the message and began to type another. I miss you too. Taylors fingers hovered over the send button. Shouldn't she be strong for once? Maybe she shouldn't go crawling back to an ex. But she truly and honestly did miss everything about Karlie. Her gorgeously dyed blonde locks, to her perfect bone structure, her toned abs and mile long legs. The model was a constant source of sunshine is the singers otherwise dull life. The daily texts, the constant smiles and laughs, Taylor was truly stunned at how she's gone 9 days without her being her girlfriend when it had felt more like 9 years.

Sometimes nights in the city just feel different for Karlie. She'll remember all of the times Taylor and her ran wild through it. The times they made out in the back of chauffeured cars, the times they went to public parties and pretended to just be friends. The one that always hits her the hardest is the time they both slid on wigs and the cheapest, shortest dresses the could find and went to the trashiest bar in Manhattan. For one night they weren't Taylor Swift and Karlie Kloss, the international pop star and supermodel. They got to run around the streets drunk laughing and kissing and Karlie remembers never feeling like nobody else in the city would ever love her like that.
You're the only motherfucker in the city who can handle me.
It's not exactly that she wanted to break up with Taylor, but some things just got to be too much. Of course she would always love Taylor, but their love just wasn't the same. Karlie was tired of having to feel scared, unsafe.
It's been 7 months. 2 months ago, Karlie started a relationship with Josh. Sure he was a little boring, and wasn't really that interested in Karlie but he was just so safe. Karlie was getting older and was looking to settle down, and Taylor just couldn't give her that. That didn't stop her from typing out a message to Taylor after their first date trying to win her back. She never sent it, but most days she wishes she did.
New love wasn't true love, back to you, love.
Taylor can't believe she moved back to LA from New York a year and a half ago. She can't believe it's been eighteen months since her last relationship and she still misses Karlie more than anything. Her friends tell her it's time to move on, that Karlie's moved on. The thought physically pains Taylor. Suddenly, her ringtone meant just for Karlie blares.
From: Karlie Kloss
Are you in LA?
The message deeply confuses Taylor. Wasn't she happy with her boring businessman?
Taylor: Yes.
Karlie: Can we go to dinner tonight? Please
Taylor: Sure. Send me a place and time.
Taylor can't believe she agreed to this so easily. What possibly could Karlie want from her? Why was she even doing this?

Seeing Karlie for the first time since that fateful night feels like getting stabbed in the heart. Seeing the girls big smile, her glowing and tanned skin reminded Taylor that she her ex-girlfriend was too happy, and Taylor was still a heartbroken mess of a person.
Turns out, Karlie wasn't here to beg Taylor back. She was here to apologize. For everything. For breaking her heart like that, for moving into her relationship with Josh so soon, but most importantly for getting engaged. The world would find out tomorrow, but Karlie wanted Taylor to know today. She wanted to tell her that she still loved her, and wanted nothing but their relationship back. But she couldn't, she was going to get married. Karlie opens up about how much she misses their relationship, how she would do it a million times over, but how life can just ruin things. That maybe you aren't to meant to end up with your soulmate. But, at least life has brought you together.
I have lost a hero. I have lost a friend. But for you, my darling, I'd do it all again.
