"If you're going to do this Taylor, you have to do it right." Abigail says over FaceTime while Taylor sits on the couch of her New York apartment. "This is Karlie Kloss we're talking about, you only get to propose once, and especially to a supermodel." Abis words have her lighthearted teasing manner but still somehow manage to scare Taylor. Why did she think this was a good idea? It was Karlie, for Gods sake. The most perfect, caring, loving person woman on planet Earth, and probably in the entire galaxy. The absolute love of her life. And yet, she's going to have to attempt to propose to her. She's not even sure if Karlie will say yes. Of course they'd off handedly mentioned forever to each other, but it was never serious. But here Taylor sat, on the phone with her forever best friend and a sparkling gold rock closed in a velvet blue box next to her computer, and there was no way it got more serious than that. Taylor has always been a romantic. It kinda was ingrained in her, it would be impossible for someone whose literal job was to pull inspiration from their love life to not spend ever waking second about how in love they were with the most gorgeous person alive. And when you have someone like Karlie, who deserves the world, it seems almost impossible to plan the perfect proposal that would blow her away. And even with Abigail having the best intentions, she's definitely not making this easy for Taylor. She's shot down just a about every idea she's had (a homemade dinner, taking her back to St. Louis) and Taylor is starting to feel so discouraged. She knows she can propose to Karlie, but she also knows it has to be perfect. While Abi is rambling on about how Matt proposed to her (a story she's heard a million times before) it suddenly hits Taylor, she knows exactly what she has to do. Abigail is still winding on and on while Taylor has moved on, quickly checking Karlie's schedule, messaging her pilot and reaching out to Tree to book accommodations. At this point, Taylor knew exactly how to propose to Karlie.

Karlie knew something was off with Taylor. She had been hiding something for well over two weeks at this point. Every time Karlie even brought up their future in the slightest, her girlfriends eyes grew slowly in panic. It was off, especially considering that Taylor Swift was quite the hopeless romantic and shy mention of a future together sent her beaming. But Karlie couldn't figure out exactly what was wrong with Taylor. Even though none of her other actions pointed to it, Karlie was convinced that Taylor was going to break up with her. They had reached the point in their relationship where it was time to get serious about the next stride, and maybe Taylor felt that while the time they've had together has been nice, there wasn't much more to that. They used to get drunk and marvel over being married, having kids; but now anytime Karlie had attempted to bring it up, the conversation had been shut down. When Karlie got home it even had seemed like Taylor was packing for somewhere, and Karlie couldn't help but figure that this was Taylors out. Even with the night continuing on as normal, even with Taylor being more affectionate as usual, Karlie couldn't help but feel more and more unsettled about her whole relationship. Sure she loves Taylor with all her heart, but it couldn't help but seem there was going to be a big shift in their relationship really soon, and she wasn't sure it was exactly the outlook she wanted.

After making sure every single thing was in place, especially the ring deep in her purse, Taylor decided it was time to wake Karlie and to move on with her plan. Once she got all of the major details explained to her best friend, Abi had helped Taylor figure out how she could get her girlfriend across the country without her suspecting. In all honesty, this was going to be the hardest part, considering Karlie was a monster in the morning, and even more so when she didn't know exactly where they were going.
"Baby," Taylor coos while brushing her hair through Karlies hair. "We have to go to LA..." she says certainly. This definitely shoots Karlie straight up, confused as to why she's being forced across the country so soon. Sensing the panic in Karlies eyes, Taylor begins to rattle off the lie Abigail trainer here to say. "I have a super big emergency meeting with my label and I really want you there. But," she begins to frantically turn to check the alarm clock reading 7:25 am and facing back Karlie with pleading eyes, "we have to leave like...now. I packed you a bag already." Without hesitation, Karlie sprung up and began to get ready to leave, knowing that Taylor needed her for something. They were able to exit the apartment 15 minutes later (a record for Karlie) a descended to a location that was most definitely not LA for a record label meeting.

Karlie didn't know what to think when their plane landed in an airport that was clearly not LAX. Checking her location through her phone maps, her heart sank realizing that she was in Big Sur. Taylor had just woken up and had traveled to the back of the plane to take a call, so Karlie was left to ponder her thoughts alone. Even with logic not on her side, Karlie has figured that Taylor had brought her to Big Sur to break up with her. How fitting to dump someone in the place your relationship had crossed over to the next level. When Taylor walked back to cuddle next to Karlie, it was apparent that she knew that Karlie knew their actual location. Taylor simply offers her a soft smile and kisses her, assuring her that everything actually might be fine.

After finally making it back to the same cabin they stayed in all those years ago, Taylor had so much pent up energy she thought she might pass out soon. Karlie had suggested they went on a hike, almost on the verge of tears, and Taylor couldn't help but think this was the perfect timing. She knew Karlie had been stressed out about work, and she was hoping that this would take her mind off of things, and hopefully move their life into a next chapter. Sliding the ring into a bag carrying her polaroid and a bottle of water for them both, Taylor figured it was now or never.

Deja vu had always hit in the worst ways. When the girls had finally hiked to the big tree they had taken one of their favorite pictures out, each of them had a wave of memories reach them like no other. Karlie wrapped her arm and Taylors waist and pulled her in closer, soaking up what she had thought would be one of her last memories of Taylor. Taylor took in a deep breath, turned to face Karlie and begun to speak.
"From the moment I first saw you, I knew I was in deep trouble. Everything about you was so intoxicating, and every single thing you did made me fall even more in love with you. I had never met anyone who was as loving, as patient, as caring as you. I knew that no matter what I did, it was better with you by my side." Taylor was trying to keep it together but small tears had began to fall from her eyes. "That's when it hit me: there was no way I could do anything without you there. I couldn't imagine my life without your smile, you laugh, waking up next to you." With one swift motion, Taylor had pulled the ring out of her bag and ended up on one knee, not even minding the humid grass sweeping into her leggings. "Karlie Elizabeth Kloss, will you marry me?" Even with thick tears running down both of their eyes, Karlie nodded rapidly and immediately stuck her hand out, muttering the word yes over and over again. Karlie swooped Taylor off her left knee and into her arms, kissing her ferociously. With a kiss lasting a few minutes, they both pulled back with huge smilies and happy tears following out their eyes. Forever had never felt better
