(In case there's any confusion this next bit is a flashback)

I was sitting in my year 7 history class room when it happened. My desk was right next to the window that faced the roof of the Sports hall. I'd sit and stare out of that window for hours, history was never my strongest subject so the views of the sports hall roof became my close friend.

One day however, the views of the tall sports hall roof had different plans for me and my period 2 history class. I remember the day so well, every detail engraved in my brain.

It was cloudy that particular day, not white clouds you see on a spring day; more like thunderclouds. Deep grey thunderclouds. My teacher Mr Scott was droning On about something to do with Queen Elizabeth when I started to look out of my window.

For about half an hour there was nothing unusual it was like any other rooftop at 10:43am. Then I noticed the student missing from the desk infront if me. She was always on time and never missed a class. Why is she so late today? I thought to myself.

Then I saw something come out of the locked stairway atop the roof. I couldn't quite make out what it was until she took a step closer towards the edge. I watched her take of her shoes and place them in front of the rails with a small pink envelope taped to them. I saw her take 5 deep breaths and I didn't move or shout or anything, I sat and watched. Because i was only 11. How was I supposed to know what she was about to do?

After her last breath, she climbed over the rail and stepped onto the edge, pulling her hair out of the tight bun it was always kept in. Then her eyes locked into mine and I felt my heart sink. She'd been crying. A whole fucking lot. Her face was red and her mascara ran down her cheeks.

And then she smiled at me; not an evil fuck you smile. It was more of a "I'll see you tomorrow mate, love you!" Kind of smile. So I smiled back.

Then she held her head up high and let go of the rails... and she fell.

She fell and I bolted up out of my seat and I screamed through the window. I don't know why. It was to late, she'd already fallen. She was already gone. But I'd convinced myself that I could do something to save her.

The next thing I knew was that I was running, I ran and jumped down 4 flights of stairs to get to the courtyard between the sports hall and my history classroom.

What I found when I ran through the door wasn't anything I'd seen before. She was face down in the concrete. There was blood pouring from everywhere and I tried to push on the spots where it was flowing but nothing happened.

"Smile my dear, sad is ugly on you" she choked the words out and those words were the last things I heard leave her mouth.

I cried and cradled her body even when my entire history class and my teacher arrived and tried to drag me away. Some of them cried, some of them didn't know what to say and one of them threw up because when we're in a year 7 history class were not supposed to see the remains of a girl who just jumped off the sports hall roof.

Especially when the girl that jumped off the roof was my twin sister. No one should have to find their dead sisters body when they're in high school.

No one.
