Fluff
Words: 1435

It was a cold night. Connor Stern walked patiently down the snow covered path, all bundled up. His nose was red from the cold, sniffles escaping the male as he continued to stumble down the path that would soon lead him home.

But why not get some hot chocolate for the walk home? The male turned into the cafe, a locals favorite. The workers were always nice, pleasing, fun to talk to. The lot was very welcoming, small fairy lights covering the wall, comfortable booths and hell- even some couches, beanbags and other homey objects. Plants, like succulents and lilac bonsai trees were scattered around the building. It was very modern, the only real color other than black and white coming from the plants and the people who sat inside.

Connor knew almost everyone who worked there, he knew the owner, he knew the baristas and busboys. He knew the waiters, everyone, but, immediately when he walked inside, he was greeted with an unfamiliar voice.

"Hello! Welcome sir, how may i help you?"

That statement almost made Connor cringe.  He hadn't heard it in so long, and honestly, it just sounded so robotic. He looked over to see who it came from, but it was a new employee. Connor just looked at him, look at his two different colored eyes, his tan skin with a small amount of dark freckles covering his buzzed cut head. His had a grin on his face,  a little crooked smile.

And. Oh. Shit. He was good lookin. Connor felt his face physically heat up as he gripped onto himself tightly, his whole body raising as he took a deep breath, but never exhale, just stood there quietly, making the whole situation very, well, awkward.

Markus just looked at him, before raising a brow. He was the only customer in the store, so Markus had nothing else to do but tend to the one man in the store. Who.. was just staring at him. He soon raised his hands in the air, giving a small wave to hopfully snap the male out of whatever trance he seemed to be in.

And that's exactly what happened.

Connor whole body flinched as he snapped back to reality, his body finally untensing  as he let out that exhale he had been keeping in for so long. He looked back to Markus, flashing a small, awkward smile before waving. God damn, he was a fucking mess. He trotted over to the register, his face still that vibrant red as he finally spoke.

"I-I've never met you before,, are- are you.. new?" He asked. Ew, speaking. Like i had said before, Connor knew basically everyone who worked at the cafe. He was good friends with the owner and their family.

The male Behind the counter smiled and nodded, even giving a soft chuckle. That fucking chuckle.

"yes, actually! This is my third day," He spoke, a sweet grin on his face. Ah fuck. Connor. Was. Really fucking gay. He felt his heart begin to pump, his face even more vibrant then before, if that was even possible.  He couldn't help but giggle, gripping onto himself as he looked away.

Before the male could could respond, he was swiftly cut of by a loud laugh.

"Whats up, nerd?!" Oh fun. North. Connor looked over to the ginger woman standing behind the counter near the doorway to the back room of the building, wiping her hands dry with a clothe. She soon tossed it back to who knows where, most likely leaning in a counter in the back room. She then quickly ran out, smiling as she turn the corner of the granite counter and basically tackled Connor into a hug. Connor groaned out playfully before answering.

"nothing much, North" he simply said, earning a snicker from the woman. She soon let go, looking at the two men in the room, before smiling. She knew something was up, or at least with Connor. He was acting shy. Normally when no one is in the cafe, hes screeching his lungs out about the lastest drama going on. But now, he was all curled up in his coat, his face flustered up, or that could be from the cold. So she just smirked, smirked with the small little devious smirk as Connor.

Connor knew it all to well. He glared at the taller woman, his face growing a darker shade of that red. Oh. It was not the cold. Hell. He just thought Markus was really fucking hot. Nothing else to it. Yeah, maybe he had a little crush, but that was about it. He grumbled softly, almost as a warning, knowing the woman would most likely tease him.  But, she didnt say anything, like, at all. She just smiled and slowly walked back behind the counter, leaving Connor in confusion.

But he shook it off, walking closer to the barista, who just smiled an unsure smile. Great first impression, Connor. He sighed softly, his hands cupping together in an effort to warm his numb fingers.  He grumbled softly, thinking to himself before finally looking up. He gave a small smile, earning a small nod from the new employee.

"So sir, what would you like?" He asked. God, Connor was anxious? It was one man and yet he seemed so scared to even speak to him.

"A tall mocha latte please.. possible with more milk than usual," he responded. Its what he got everytime. North would always sprinkle some Carmel, chocolate powder, or cinnamon on top to make a decoration on the micro foam, but he didnt expect it this time. Markus only nodded, writing it down on a small note pad instead of actually using the register.

Connor just watched him close, before turning and walking over to one of the couches. He sat down, bringing his legs up, crossing them to sit fully on the couch. His body swayed side to side as he thought.  That new employee. He was pretty cute. Er- hot. Well, maybe both. It was weird. But, Connor seriously had a little crush going on.

Soon enough, the small bell rang, Connor head perking up at the familiar noise. He stood up, walked over to the counter, and took his drink. The server didn't say anything, but Connor was about to catch a small glimpse of his name that was written on the name tag he wore. Markus. His named was Markus.

Connor soon walked back to his seat, pulling the small plastic lid off of the top, only to nearly spill his drink.  A small heart made of cinnamon dust. His face flustered up, the male looking around to see if North was anywhere near. But. She wasnt. Only Markus. With a small smile on his face, his blue and green eyes staring right at con- wait what.

Connor quickly looked away after making eye contact with the waiter for a solid ten seconds.  A soft laugh came in the direction of where Markus had been standing, but when Connor looked back up, Markus had already gone back to working. He gave a soft huff before taking a sip. Damn it was good. Like always.

The rest of the time was quiet, a few noises from the various coffee machines throughout the room. Connor continued to sip the hot drink, warming his hands with the cup. He couldn't help but think about that smile. Markus's smile. Hell, he didn't even know if that was actually the mans names, he could have easily read the name tag wrong. But, that smile was so sweet.  And he couldn't decide if the heart was a Markus being a little flirt or if it was just decoration.

Either way, it flustered the man. God, he was like a student ranting about the cute kid in the grade. He took another sip, before standing up. He better head home. He began to walk, but stopped at the cash registers, placing a few dollar bills into the jar that said 'tips'.

Right as he was about to turn and walk, he was stopped once again. Markus came trotting over, a smile on his face.

"Sir, you've got something on your face. Here.." he spoke, handing Connor a small napkin. Connor face immediately flustered up once again, the male quickly grabbing the napkin. He flashed a small smile, before raising the napkin closer to his face, but, stopped.  And stared.

"Call me" Markus chuckled, turning and leaving the register, leaving Connor to stare. On the napkin.  Was a number.

Markus's number
