Chapter 3: Joining the guild

Gray POV

It’s been a month since she staying with us and somehow I felt like I know her longer even though it’s a month. Her aura is warm and lively yet natural…  she is like a big sister to me. I felt lucky we found her first. There’s also something special about her…

The ancient thick book she always bring, when she read it, everything around us feels safe and protected. As if she read or more like chanting spells the book, she used spells to protect us away from harm and put a barrier so that no enemies attack us or spot us. I think Ul and Lyon realized it too. Right now, she’s in her room, ‘reading’ her book and the melody surrounded the empty room.

I sat on the sofa not far from her room, from the start when she began to chant, I listening the melody in calm yet peaceful as if all my problems and burdens suddenly disappears. I always think to myself, ‘What kind of magic she used?’ I did asked Ul about this but she doesn’t know it either and said this is the first time she saw it. Maybe Zana’s power is legendary and mysterious or powerful than the others.

My thought snaps when I heard her bedroom door opened, glance at the side to see she is wearing light brown cloth and yellow dress. Somehow I wonder to myself, where does she found that clothes every time she changed.

She smile at the sight of me before reach towards the door but I stopped her, “Onee-chan…”

“Hmm?” She paused, turn to face me.

“I’ve been meaning to ask, where did you get that clothes? Most of them…”

“Oh!” she point her index finger at her brown book she was holding and answer, “After I read my book, I wish that I need new clothes and the next day the clothes are on my bed as if my wish has came true.”

My eyes widen in amaze, “Really?! Wow! Your magic is getting more and more amazing, onee-chan!” I exclaims. “If your wish came true in a flash, can you wish for me to become stronger?” I hops in excitement and clung to her waist.

She chuckle, ruffles my haired gently with affection before knelt down to my height with a warm smile, the smile of breath taking and I blush slightly. “I already did wished for you to become stronger.”

“What?” I stare at her in clueless, “But why do I still weak right now?”

She stared at me with a warm gaze, “Not now but maybe someday. I guarantee.” She stand up and grab the door knob before I ask, “Where are you going?” knowing that she will be leaving for awhile, I feel unsafe without her here to protect me.

“I am going for a walk and find a job to get money for us to buy foods.”

“B-But we don’t need money! We can protect ourselves with our magic!” I said, trying to convince her that we can protect ourselves.

She shook her head and opened the door, “No can do. While I lived with you guys, it’s my responsibility to take care of your health including Ul-san and Lyon.” With that she, left the cabin into the snowy weather.

I sighed in defeated, collapse back to the sofa and glare at the ceiling. “Damn it. How can I tell Ul about this… especially Lyon.” Lyon is the most clingy one to Zana and if he heard about this news he wouldn’t let her go.. well, I am also just like him but… how could I say this. I am clingy AND protective even for a kid like me. Glancing at the outside window, ‘I hope she will be fine by her own…’

Zana POV

Let me recall back…

What I planning to do is joining Fairy Tail guild. I remember the story about this one but we never know what kind of guild before it became famous. Mirajane and her siblings are still young and Erza not yet join. Natsu will come few more months? At july which I remember dragons starts to disappears at day 7 of July. This month is at the end of December, few months had passes since Gray’s hometown destroyed.
