Destiny's POV

"Shawn, before you finish that thought, Destiny, play the song you wrote for the contest." Andrew requests, and I pause. "I never finished it. I just wrote the structure. I didn't want to be disappointed if you used my song." I admit, and Andrew pauses. "Try and finish it now."  He continues to push, and I purse my lips. I pull my phone out, pulling up the lyrics through my notes. I read over them, occasionally striking a few keys in an attempt to find the right melody. I take a deep breath, starting the tune. Then, I sing.

"Does this define me?
Words surrounding,
Stuck inside me
Does this define me?

Can you see me?
I call out, mirror... mirror...
Can you see me?

You don't know me,
You can't define me, mirror...
I am me

This isn't me
Who is this I can see?
This isn't me
This isn't me

Who is this,
Mirror?
Your words surrounding
Can't define me, mirror... mirror

Your words surrounding
Can't define me,
Can you not see me?
I call out,
Can you see me?

I can't hear you,
You don't know me,
Define me,
Mirror... mirror...
This isn't me
Who is this I can see?
This isn't me
That isn't me
Who is this,
Mirror... mirror?

Does this define me?
Words surrounding,
Stuck inside me
Does this define me?
Mirror...mirror...

Can you see me?
I call out, mirror... mirror...
Can you see me?

Mirror...! Mirror...!
I can't hear you,
You don't know me,
Mirror...! Mirror...!
Can you see me?
I call out,
Can you see me?
You don't me,
You can't define me, mirror... mirror...
I am me..."
The melody fades out with the last of the lyrics, and I pull my hands away from the keys. I twiddle my thumbs, I was unsure of how to feel. I had shared my songs with my kitten before, and I would sing in the hallways and the lunchroom at school, but I had never actually sang to a room of people before. I had never sang my songs to other people, especially not music producers. "I-I know it's sh-short, but I-I c-can definitely m-make it b-better." I stutter out, obviously extremely nervous. "Destiny, that's not the song you sent us." Andrew tells me, and I freeze. "Wh-which one d-did I s-send you?" I ask, and Andrew walks over to his laptop. I sit quietly for about two minutes as he searches for the song. Once he finds it I gulp. "'Between the Willow'" Andrew tells me, and I shakily begin to strike the keys to form the soft melody.
"Little girl,
Standing there,
With her eyes wide...

Standing there
Between the willows
Staring out at her dreams
Of a little white wedding
And a perfect marriage

Standing there
Between the willows
Picking flowers
With her big dreams

She was always askin'
"Can you hear those church bells ringing?
When are those bells gonna be ringing
For me?"

Those big blue eyes
Always holding secrets
But those sweet little lips
Always spilling secrets
Of her dreams~!

Standing there
Between the willows
Staring out at her dreams
Of a little white wedding
And a perfect marriage

Those big dreams
Were lookin' kinda bleak
Until she heard those words
She had been looking for this whole time
And then...

She stopped asking,
"Can you hear those church bells ringing?
When will those bells be ringing
For me?"
But now~
She's always asking,
"Can you hear those church bells ringing?
Don't let those bells be ringing
For me~
I'm holding on to my~
Dreams~
Will never be over
For me~"
