Destiny's POV
(A/N: This is starting off with a phone call. The italics are Shawn, and the bolded italics are Destiny.)
You told Tia I was your boyfriend?
Well, hello to you too, Shawn. It's nice to hear from you, despite the off the wall accusation.
Oh, stop acting like you don't know what I'm talking about.
Well, I would if I did actually know.
Tia said you're always talking about your boyfriend named Peter, who plays instruments and writes songs and works at Island Records.
I do talk about Peter, and he does all of that stuff, but you and Peter are not the same person. What you and I did was a one time thing, Shawn. I will not be the other woman.
I realize that, but Tia knows, or at least I think she does.
Know for sure next time before I get another call like this.
And with that, I hung up on Shawn. I collapse against the bathroom door, hugging my body. I unlocked my phone, clicking on my photos icon. I stared at the picture of Tia I had in my phone. She was what Shawn wanted. She was what he wanted. I wanted Shawn, and so I guess I have to look like her to get him. I studied how her hair fell to her shoulders, and then stopped. She had recently started braiding two separate sections of her hair and then Bobby pinning them to her ponytail.
(A/N: Photo Attached)
Her hair was red, she'd been dying it. It wasn't like a fake red. It looked natural. I had asked her what she was using, the brand and everything. She told me, and now I had it sitting on my counter. I forced myself off of the floor, taking the box of dye into my hands. Shakily, I opened the box to begin the process.
"You want me to do what now?" Asked Aria, starring at me in confusion. "I want you to cut my hair to shoulder length." I insist, and she wearily picks up the scissors. "Just remember, I'm not a professional by any means." She warns me.
I smile at Aria, loving the transformation she had given me. "It looks amazing!" I tell her, smiling happily. Maybe now Shawn will want me. I thought to myself before my stomach began lurching for some unknown reason. I ran to the toilet, painting the inside with my lunch. "Destiny, are you okay?" Aria freaked, and I nodded as I leaned back against the wall. "I'm sorry, that came out of nowhere." I apologized, grabbing some toilet paper to wipe my mouth. "It's been happening randomly for the past few days. I think it's all the dairy I've been consuming, I'm lactose intolerant." I lie to Aria, and she nods, seeming to believe me. "Well, I've got to get going. I'm eating dinner tonight with Tia and Shawn." She tells me, and I bid her fair well. Once she's gone, I force myself off the floor and clean up the bathroom. I check the time, rushing out the door as soon as I do, grabbing my things as I leave.
~Time Skip for Destiny's Location~
"Hello, Ms. McClain, how are you today?" My doctor asks, setting up the needed items for today. "I think I'll be much better after today's visit." I admit, and she looks at me wearily. "Ms. McClain, I need to make you aware that your procedure will not be done today, it is just the work up to see what exactly needs to be done." She told me, and my shoulders sagged. I was hoping for this to all be over with. "There are several things we have to go over today. It is mandatory that I discuss all of your options with you today; and before you can tell me your final decision I have to give you a pelvic exam, an external ultrasound, and an intervaginal ultrasound; but before I do any of that I have to ask you a few questions and do a routine work up." Dr. Sky informs me, and I sigh with a nod. "Alright, are you ready to begin?" She asks me, and I nod and give a simple 'yes.' "When was your last period?" She asks me, and I look up at the ceiling as I count the weeks on my fingers. "I was told that what I thought was my last period was in fact implantation bleeding, about six weeks ago, but before that it was ten weeks ago." I explain best I could, and she nods while typing it up in her computer. "Okay... and have you been experiencing anything specific? Nausea?" She asks, and I take a deep breath before I begin to list off my symptoms. "I've been nauseas and throwing up randomly throughout the day. Oh, and I've been so tired here recently too. My... chest has been hurting too. Um... I've been peeing a lot too, and I stay bloated. Oh, and I get super nauseated when I'm in the car." I tell her, and she nods while typing as fast as she can. I sit there quietly while she catches up, and when she's done she stands up from her computer and takes her stethoscope out from around her neck.
(A/N: This is literally just what happens in every exam with the heart rate and the pulse and the temperature. Y'all know how that works.)
"Okay, now that we've gotten the routine work done I'm going to talk to you about your options." She begins, and I nod. "Our office is very large, and we have plenty of resources for any avenue that you may choose. Most young mothers choose to give their baby up for adoption, simply because of the fact they know they give their child what they deserve. If you were to choose that option, there are several other decisions you have to make. For starters, would you want your child's adoptive parents to be able to contact you? You could go for an open adoption so that you may visit your child freely, or you could sign over all of your rights and make it to where the adoptive parents have no idea as to who they're adopting from. If this is the route you decide to go then our facility can get you in contact with several different agencies. If you decide you do want to keep your baby, then we have a great staff to provide you with some of the best prenatal care you could receive. Your last option would be to receive an abortion. We do these procedures in house, and I know this is the one you are most interested in. The way we go about it is determined by how far along you are. Most women have them done during their first trimester, which is the first twelve weeks of gestation. Until week seven you have the option to take Methotrexate and misoprostol, or MTX. This is a cancer drug that slows the growth of the fetus, much like cancer. It stops the creation of new cells developing. Up until week ten you have the option for what is called a medical abortion. It is essentially much like an abortion pill, but the first pill will eliminate the pregnancy by stopping the growth of the placenta and allowing it to separate from the endometrium, also know as the uterine lining. Your next and final option for an abortion would be vacuum aspiration. Essentially, we would use gentle suction to extract the fetus and the placenta from your uterus." Dr. Sky explains, and I nod as I let the information sink in. "I am not allowed to let you make a decision right this second, and so now I need to begin your pelvic exam before I can allow you to give me an answer." She explains, and I nod.
(A/N:Then after that is a pelvic exam and I am not explaining that one. Then is the ultrasound, and I'm skipping that too. I'll go straight to the results.)
"So, now that that is out of the way... have you decided what you want to do?" She asks me, and I nod. "I want to proceed with an abortion." I insist, and she nods, almost sadly. "Okay. We should continue to discuss which option would best suite you financially, and go from there. Medical insurance doesn't cover them, seeing as they're elective procedures." Dr. Sky explains, and I nod. "What are you currently making at the moment?" She asks, and I pull my phone out. "I haven't calculated it yet. I'm currently a songwriter for Island Records." My doctor waits patiently, and I tell her my annual salary. She nods, and then explains that I have the ability to choose any option, and that they will take payment plans. "I believe I want to go with the vacuum aspiration." I choose, and my doctor nods. "Before I allow you to book your appointment for the appointment, I am required to set up a consultation with someone from our psychology unit. Once you're cleared with them I'll book your appointment and have you fill out an emergency contact sheet." Dr. Sky informs me, and I nod with a sigh. "If you'd like, I can go ahead and ask if they have a physician free for you to have your consult now." She offered, and I nodded. "I think that sounds wonderful." I tell her, and two hours later I was filling out my emergency contact form. I sign the last page and hand it to Dr. Sky before I gather my things and she tells me to have a good day.
