Destiny's POV
I watched Tia from afar, holding Kai in one arm, fed him with the other, all the while she used her left foot to carefully scoot Melody's stroller back and forth to get her to sleep. Shawn was standing about ten feet away from her, just talking to some random stage hand about Harry Potter. Tia honestly looked a bit bitter. I would too, honestly. I know the pregnancy wasn't exactly planned, but he claims to love these kids. Tia is his girlfriend, not his nanny. I walked up to her, smiling as I took over rocking Melody for her. She may be my boss's girlfriend, and Shawn might be my crush, but she needed help. Parenting a baby is a two person job, but parenting two is definitely a two person job. "Thank you." Tia told me, relaxing with a sigh of relief. "I'm sorry Shawn isn't helping you." I told her, smiling at my niece. "Is it weird that it bothers me that their mom is underage?" Tia asks, placing Kai's empty bottle down. "I'm not sure... I mean, it makes sense to be concerned about it to an extent, but at the same time you're pretty close to her age." I explain, not exactly sure how old Tia is. "Well... I am a bit older. I mean, I'll be eighteen next month." Tia reasons, moving Kai to her shoulder as she began to burp him. "And how old were you when you two started dating?" I ask, trying to test the waters. "Seventeen. We've been together for eight months." She tells me, scooting foreword to check on Melody. I look as well, and she's sound asleep. I stop rocking her, pulling her car seat out of the stroller. I place it on the floor, watching Tia from the corner of my eye as she glanced back and forth between Kai and Melody. "You're doing a great job, Tia." I tell her, sitting back up straight. She was clearly exhausted. "You think so?" She asks me, and I nod with a smile. Then I grimace as Kai spits up all over her. Tia hangs her head, and she hands him off to me. "So much for the burp cloth..." she mutters, grabbing baby wipes out of the diaper bag. She began to clean her hair and shirt with them. I place Kai in his car seat, doing the same motions for Kai as I did Melody. "Are you going to watch the show?" I ask her, seeing if she's going to be napping. "I have to, in case one of the babies gets sick or something. I'd rather nap, but according to Andrew I'm required to be present as the nanny in public." Tia sighs, obviously feeling defeated. "I'm sorry, Tia. I'll talk to Shawn about giving you a break when you get home." I try to ease her pain, studying her drained features. Her eyes were sunken in and full, with puffy bags underneath. Her face was so pale it was almost translucent. I could see the wake up she was wearing, but it didn't do her any good. The babies' spit up was just getting on her and causing her to have to wipe it away. "No, you don't have to. It's okay. They've started sleeping almost through the night, so when we get home it'll be one last feeding and then bed." She tells me, and I smile at her patience. "At least change while I watch them?" I urge her, and she smiles at me gratefully. She grabs a bag with her name on it, rushing off to the bathroom. Once Kai is asleep I grab both his carrier, placing it next to Melody's. Shawn walls over, asking for Tia, and I point to the bathroom. "She's changing before the show. Kai spit up all over her." I explain, and Shawn groans. "What do you need? I might be able to help." I press, and he sighs. "I was about to go on. I wanted a good luck kiss." He tells me, blushing. I just force out a chuckle. "Okay, that I can't help you with." I tell him, and he nods. "That's for sure." We stand there awkwardly for a few moments, and the bathroom door opens. Tia's hair was clean and dry, but still in a ponytail. She had the ends curled, and light make up on. She wore a white dress that had pink spaghetti straps and tiny pink flowers on it, and a pair of black flats. She had the bag on one arm, and a blue jean jacket on the other. She didn't look as exhausted, but you could still tell it was there. A stage hand tapped Shawn, letting him know that it was time to go on. I walked over and took Tia's things, telling her Shawn wanted a good luck kiss before he went on. When I turn around, Shawn was walking over to the door. Tia rushed over, tapped him, and he turned around and leaned down. He got the kiss, and then Tia ran back over to me. We pushed the strollers over to the green room, and we watched from there. "Where's Shawn? I thought he was supposed to be going on?" I asked no one in particular. "He's in a room. The stage doors that slide open don't show the backstage. He was put in that room with the twins so they didn't get a glimpse of back here." Tia explained, and I nod.
3rd Person POV
(A/N: I'm going to explain this as if you were watching the episode)"So, Kylie, tell me about yourself?" Ellen asks the young, sickly girl in front of her. She was bald, carrying an oxygen tank. The poor girl was so pale you could see the veins and capillaries in her skin, all over her body. She couldn't have been any older than twelve. "Well..." she starts, smoothing out her hoodie. It was one of those limited edition Mercy hoodies. "I'm eleven years old, I'm in sixth grade, and I'm home schooled. I can't go to public school or private school because I have stage four breast cancer. I love to draw, listen to music, and I love to write." She explains, and Ellen nods, leaning foreword. "What do you like to write?" She asks, and Kylie smiles. "Poems, fan fictions, the occasional book or song." And Ellen smiles, "Who's your favorite singer?" Ellen asks, and Kylie sits up just a little straighter in her wheel chair. "Shawn Mendes!" She squeals, less than a second after Ellen finished her question. Ellen laughs, "I probably should've known that from your hoodie!" Kylie let's out a small laugh. "Well, Kylie, I have a surprise for you, but you can't peak, okay?" Ellen tells her, and Kylie nods and covers her eyes. "Oh my gosh, my heart is honestly pounding." Kylie gushes, and Ellen laughs. The stage doors glide apart, and Shawn walks out silently with the twins. He walks around her chair, placing their carriers on the table. The babies were facing the people on stage rather than the cameras. Shawn kneels down in front of Kylie, placing his hands on her knees. "Okay, Kylie, you can open your eyes now." Shawn tells her, and she begins to cry. "I know that voice!" She sobs out before even opening them. The small girl gets a big hug from the pop star. "Surprise! Meet the Mendes family!" Ellen yells, throwing her hands up. Shawn goes back to crouching, chuckling as Kylie looks around the stage. "Are your parents and Aaliyah here too?" She gushes, and Shawn shakes his head. "No... No..." he laughs, and stands up and turning around to sit down in the chair beside Kylie. Her jaw drops, "Who are? What?" She asks, flabbergasted. "Okay, I feel like a bad fan now. I have no idea who these two are." Kylie says, turning bright red. Shawn leans foreword, gently taking Kylie's hand. "You aren't a bad fan for not knowing who these two are. I'm actually glad you don't know, because I'd honestly be a little scared if you did." Shawn chuckles, and Kylie relaxes. Ellen then pipes up. "Shawn, do you mind explaining who these adorable little munchkins are?" She asks, but already knew the answer. "Their names are Kai Canta Mendes and Melody Faith Mendes." He tells the audience. "They were born three months ago today, and the reason why my tour is currently on hold." The audience and Kylie both gasp. "You're a dad?" Kylie asks, almost in shock. Shawn smiles proudly, "That I am, and I've never been more proud of a fact." He tells her, and he's genuinely smiling. "You're a dad!" Kylie cheered, smiling. "Oh my gosh! Congratulations!" She continues to cheer, crying again. "I never thought I'd live long enough to see this day." Kylie sobbed, smiling profusely. Ellen passed Shawn a box of tissues, and then Shawn passed them to Kylie. She cleaned up her face, and was still smiling more than ever. "Can I hold one of them?" Kylie asked tentatively, and Shawn looked at Ellen. Before he even asks anything Ellen already knows the question. "This episode doesn't air until next week. We can blur out their faces and cut out this part of the tape." Shawn nods, and moves foreword. "Melody weighs a little less. She would be easier for you to hold." Shawn tells Kylie, unbuckling the baby girl. "Hey, you match!" Shawn chuckles, carefully placing his three month old daughter in Kylie's arms. Kylie laughs, carefully supporting Melody's head. Shawn sits back down, watching Melody coo at Kylie. "May I?" Ellen asks, gesturing at Kai. "Go right ahead, yeah!" Shawn permits, smiling at Ellen. "Now, under normal circumstances, I wouldn't allow this." Shawn tells everyone, giving him confused looks. "The twins, they're so young they don't have an immune system yet. I wouldn't just let people hold them. Especially since they were born two months early." Shawn starts, and everyone listens. "I mean, I don't want to seem rude or over protective or anything, but I don't know if you've washed your hands or not. I don't know how clean you are. I'm not gonna just hand out a tiny child with no way of keeping his or herself from getting sick. Colds may not kill adults or older children, but little kids, especially premies, they can die from a simple cold." Shawn finishes, and Ellen nods. "You've really done your research, Shawn." Kylie says, and Shawn smiles. "Thank you."
The rest of the show continued without much excitement. Shawn answered different questions about his career and the twins, but the only information he gave out about them was their birthday, and that he wasn't ready to talk about their mom. He promised to give out more information about the twins later on his Instagram. At the end of the filming he and Ellen put Kai and Melody back in their car seats, and then Kylie got another hug, an autograph, and several different pictures with the Mendes family and Ellen.
