Lance sat on one of the couches in the main lounge, a large case in his hand. He placed the case beside him and zipped it open. The castle was quiet, the rest of the team gone on a mission. They didn't leave Lance out of it in a spiteful way; he knew that. He was just sleeping when they were called to a mission, so they left him sleeping.

That's what Lance was hoping, anyways.

Lance sighed, reaching into the case and pulling out an instrument that closely resembled a guitar. There had been one at the space mall when the team most recently visited, and Lance couldn't pass it up.

He pulled the guitar on his leg, and he plucked a few strings, tuning the pegs accordingly. Lance strummed a G-chord, and an A-chord. He smiled at the familiar sound, switching between chords and playing small snippets of songs he knew back on Earth.

Finally, Lance thought of a song to play. It was an old favorite of his, and now it's an ironic truth for him.

"I'm on the first street, and I'm waiting. Cars are passing by, anticipating. I keep waiting, but no one picks me up," Lance begins to sing, picking the correct strings and strumming the correct chords. His voice was never as deep or raspy as the original artist, so it sounded a bit off to him, but he didn't care. It was just nice to play and sing once again.

"I've come a long way, riding on Louis Lane, full speed ahead thinking I'm superman." Lance stifles a laugh at how accurately the song described him.

"Game over, but no one picks me up." Lance swallows, taking a deep breath. He doesn't notice soft footsteps approaching from behind.

(Keith POV)

He was glad to remain at the castle. The last diplomatic meeting Keith was at didn't go too well, since he exploded at the others attending the meeting. He's grown since then, but he still didn't like being so formal and so careful of the words he says.

He relaxed in the bridge, looking at the star-speckled view. He would never get used to the landscape in space. It made him feel small, compared to everything around him.

It was relaxing, in a strange way.

Keith heard footsteps in the hallway behind him, causing him to be drawn from the star-filled sky. He knew Lance had stayed, since he was asleep. Keith voted that since he was resting, he could have the day off. He knew how hard Lance was working, so he deserved the break.

He decided it would be alright to go and talk to him. Make conversation, since they were the only two in the Castle at the moment. He got up from his spot and began walking to where he heard Lance head to: The lounge room.

He entered the hallway, and began to hear singing, and the strumming of what sounded like a guitar. Keith paused in his tracks, surprised to hear that the source was Lance.

'Lance can sing?' Keith thought, surprised. It didn't sound too bad, either. His voice was smooth, yet thick with emotion as he picked strings and strummed chords. Keith willed himself to keep walking, standing at the doorway of the lounge. Sure enough, there was Lance.

'I know that song...' Keith said to himself, growing fond at the memory of listening to the song while sneaking out to look at the night sky on Earth.

He was surprised to find that, despite his hardships on that planet, he missed it. The song reminded him of that.

Keith stepped in quietly, smiling softly as Lance continued to sing, beginning the chorus.

(Lance POV)

"Can somebody help me out? Feel like I'm hitchhiking through the galaxy." The bright, strong guitar chords echoed across the room, Lance smiling at the memories of his home the tune brought.

"All that I can think about, is how I'm just another casualty."

"And everytime it tears me down, feel like I'm standing on the edge of the universe." Lance's smile fell.

"I wish that I could turn back time instead of hitch, hitchhiking through the galaxy." Lance began the main instrumental, glad he could still remember to play the old song he loved so much, despite it having been a while since he last heard or played the song.

He led the song into the quiet ending, beginning to say the lyrics as he strummed.

"Can somebody help me out...?" He sang, his voice getting quieter as he began to feel more and more homesick. He fell silent, and stopped playing the song. He had nearly forgotten how much he had missed Earth, his family, his home. He bit his bottom lip, trying to force the wave of tears away.

"Cause everytime it tears me down," a voice sang quietly behind Lance. He jumped, whirling around to find the origin of the voice.

It was Keith.

"How long have you been standing there...?" Lance asked, his cheeks flaring up in embarrassment. Keith shook his head, not answering him. Keith's cheeks were red as well, clearly not used to singing in front of anyone, including Lance, but he continued. Determined.

"Feels like I'm standing on the edge of the universe," Keith's voice wasn't as smooth as Lance's was. A bit raspy, but it wasn't bad. It was full of emotion, similar to Lance's. Lance blinked, shocked. But then he smiled, turning his body and his guitar so he was facing Keith and began playing again, and sing along with him.

"I wish that I could turn back time instead of hitch, hitchhiking through the galaxy." They sang, Lance ending the song with one last, soft strum of the guitar.

He looked up at Keith.

"I had no idea you could sing!" Lance exclaimed, raising an eyebrow. Keith shrugged, an flustered blush on his cheeks.

"I don't, normally. I guess I just really liked the song." Lance nodded in agreement excitedly.

"Yeah! It's been one of my favorites for so long. Since I was a kid," Lance explained. He paused, frowning in confusion. "Why aren't you on the mission with everyone else?" Lance questioned. Keith shrugged, shaking his head.

"Diplomatic things? And me? We don't go together, so I wanted to stay behind. Allura and the others will be able to handle it just fine without me."

"Oh," Lance simply said. He grinned once more, readjusting his guitar on his lap.

"Wanna sing another song?" Keith thought for a moment, but then nodded, excitement clear in his eyes.

"Sure. I have nothing else better to do."
