Matthew's POV

I was elated. She actually asked to spend some time with me. Of course, I would have to be careful with the things that I said.

Where are we going to go?

Maybe we could just get some coffee.

Yeah.

Coffee.

In case you haven't noticed, I was really nervous.

Kyla's POV

So I asked. I guess that I should be happy, but I'm not. I have so many other things to do, with my mother in the hospital, and school, and other things that will probably pop up along the way.

I don't want to go right back into where we left off. He didn't even call me when I was gone, for crying out loud. I was upset and worried and depressed and he didn't even care.

But, I think I owe it to him to let him tell me his side of the story.

###

I have been to my moms hospital room about 3 times in the past week. Today, I am supposed to hang out with Matthew at Starbucks.

It's 10 am, and we are meeting in 45 minutes, so I pop in to the shower. After a quick rinse, I get dressed in a pair of dark jeans and a red shirt with a big white bow on it.

Cute, right?

As I am putting on my white boots, i hear the doorbell ring. I run down the hallway, and open the door before anyone else can.

"Hey! " Matthew says.

"Let's go." I say trying to push him to his car.

"Well, someone's excited. " he said sarcastically.

"Come on. We don't want to be late." I reply hastily, wanting nothing more than to go home and drown in my sorrow's.

"Late to what? "

"Your funeral. Now let's go."

He opens my door for me, and I get in the passenger seat of his car. Then, he gets in and starts the car.

"So," he says. "Where are we going? "

"Starbucks. Im craving a pumpkin spice latte."

Truth be told, I'm a serious white girl at heart. I love Starbucks and tumblr and instagram.

"Ok. Coffee here we go."

The drive was about five minutes long, him blasting Taylor Swift the whole way. The windows were rolled down too. He was singing. Horribly.

Embarrassing.

I decided to get the venti pumpkin spice latte and a panini once we got to the coffee shop. Matthew got a chai latte with whipped cream.

"So, how are things going?" I ask him, starting the conversation and breaking the silence.

"Well, apart from things that are bad, things are good."

"That literally tells me nothing." I reply, staring at him blankly.

"Well, I'm happy that I'm spending time with you, because I really missed talking to you, but at the same time, I'm sad, because I know things won't ever be the same as they used to be."

Wow. I felt the same exact way.

"I uh I missed you too. " I stutter, feeling my cheeks heat up.

"You're blushing."

"Thanks, captain obvious." I laughed, glad to be able to do that again.

"How are you doing? " he asks, trying to continue what I started.

Matthew's POV

"I'm doing a lot better now. Im upset that my mom is still in the hospital, but I know she'll wake up. She's stronger than this." She says, and I immediately feel bad for her.

I have missed talking to her all day, every day. All night, every night. I miss everything about her. Her laugh, her smile, her eyes and how they crinkle when she's happy. She's beautiful.

But she's just a friend.

I am sooooooooo sorry. I started school and I just got way behind and super busy. I promise to update once a week, or twice a week. If I don't, I give you guys permission to yell at me lol.

QOTC

If I introduced a new male character, what would you want him to be like?

Have a great day/night!
