14. Unforeseen Turn of Events

‘ “Yes, I’m an entrepreneur. I have some businesses here and in some parts of the world. You may have heard of The Olympians Group?”......... “My real name is actually, Bryce “Zeus” Kreuger, ma’am,” he said addressing mom but his whole focus was on me. ’

“A billionaire, huh?” I said to myself as I lay there on my bed. 

After the whole meet the parents thing, Bryce bid us goodnight and left me with a lingering kiss along with a promise to explain everything to me the next time we meet.

Now, I’m in my room, my thoughts full of him.

I sighed.

I honestly don’t know what to think of that revelation. I admit I’m not ignorant to wealth as I am an heiress to our hotel empire. But to find out I’m romantically involve with someone as rich as Bryce is somehow overwhelming. But aside from being overwhelmed, am I really supposed to feel something else? I thought to myself and paused. Did the fact that he didn’t tell me about his financial status in the beginning going to be a problem between us?

“Hmm... Nah, not really,” I said out loud.

Shrugging it off, I shifted to find a comfortable position as I conditioned myself for sleep.

“Rise and shine, baby girl,” that sweet motherly voice said gently waking me up, “We have a big day ahead of us!”

I slowly opened my eyes and smile at my mother’s bright expressing looking down on me.

“Nothing’s changed, mom. You’re still sprightly in the mornings,” I said in a husky voice as I blinked away the sleep from my eyes. I don’t think I could remember a time when she wasn’t cheerful in the mornings. Even when I had my tantrums after waking up when I was young, her bright smile and welcome arms were the ones that calmed me down.

Now, she held my face in her hands and kissed me all over as if she couldn’t get enough of me.

“Oh, my baby’s so pretty even id she’s just woken up!” she said. 

Mom really is good for my ego. 

“Of course, mom. And I blame you for it.”

She wrapped her arms around me and squeezed, “Oooh... I really missed my baby girl!”

“Me too!” I said and held on to her.

“Come on! Up! Up! Up! We have a big day ahead.”

“Why? What’s with today?” I frowned.

“We’ll be planning for your coming out party!”

“C-c-c...” WHAT?!

Did I hear her right?! D-did she just say... I must still be sleeping and dreaming right now because I thought I heard her say the “c” word. 

She sighed, “We’ve talked about this last night at dinner, remember? I’ll be formally introducing you as the heir to the Crew hotel empire,”

It was then that flashes of what happened last night came back. Bryce’s billionaire revelation and mom’s announcement about the heir introduction thing. I mentally kicked myself on my beautiful behind. Me and my green mind! What do you expect? If it’s this early in the morning, my mind would still be all fogged up. 

“Oh yeah, hehehe... The party. I remember now,” I lamely said.

Now don’t get me wrong, okay?

The people who knows us are already very familiar with me. This introduction thingamajig is just a formality. It would formally announce me as the successor of the whole Crew empire. Now that I’ve graduated, I would now be working with one of our hotels in the country. Of course, I won’t immediately take over everything. I have to admit that I’m still a novice so I’ll be having my practice at one of our smaller hotels. And I will be under the supervision of the manager there. I have yet to meet him/her. Most probably at the party.
