Falling in love. With a Vampire?

Chapter 2

Once the lesson was finished I hurried out of the classroom and down the corridor making my way back to my locker to drop off my English book and pick up my maths stuff. I slowly made my way to maths, my least favourite subject ever. I hate maths! I don't understand it. When I used to live in England me and my friends used to have a study night where we'd do homework but it ended up with watching films, then they will try to teach me how to do fractions and algebra. My friends back in England were smart like proper smart. One of them, Hazel, cried because she only got 90%. I mean if I got 90% in anything I'd be over the moon. But she moaned for a week about it, it wasn't like it was an important test, just a weekly thing to see how much we'd learnt.

Anyway, I finally made it to lesson and took my seat at the back of the classroom yet again. Once the teacher had started the lesson she set everyone off with a task. I was about to ask for help because I didn't understand it like always but she started to talk before I could raise my hand.

"Jared Connell please can you got to the head teachers office immediately." She said in a dull tone as she read it off her computer screen where I'm guessing she just received an email. I hadn't even realised that he was in this class. He was sat at the front, with girls at all sides of him.

"Where is that?"

"I'll take him miss." A girl said. Holly Parker, a girl who is the school slut. She's slept with near enough every boy in our grade and probably in the above as well. She has the perfect figure and is beautiful and she knows it. Light brown hair and blue eyes, she's taller than me (that's not hard but it's not the point) but not by much only a few inches.

"No that's quite alright Holly." She starts to look around the room, I'm guessing to pick some one to take him. I quickly avert my gaze to my desk so she doesn't pick me. Obviously I don't do this quick enough judging by what comes out of her mouth next. "Zadia you'll take him there won't you?"

I don't get chance to reply before she turns her attention away from me and goes to help some student. I gather up my things considering its nearly the end of class. The teacher had been talking for longer than I thought. I made my way out of the classroom and waited for Jared to catch up. Once he did I started to make my way down the corridors. It was a very uncomfortable silence between us but I had no idea what to say so I stayed quiet.

"You don't talk much do you?" He asked from beside me, obviously being able to keep with my fast pace which is weird because by now normal people would be so far behind me I would have to stop and let them catch up. So when the voice came from beside me I was shocked to say the least.

"Not at school no, people don't talk to me so I have no reason too." I said glancing at him for a second but carried on walking down the hallway.

"Your from England?" He asked but it came out more of a statement. I nodded in response."I love England."

"You've been?" I asked, curiosity getting the better of me.

"Yeah, I mean, I've travelled around alot. I've been to alot of places. England was my favourite. Full of wildlife and of course the amazing accents." He said emphasising the word amazing.

"Yeah, I miss it alot." I said with a hint of sadness in my voice. I'd been so lot in though and talking when I nearly walked pass the head teachers office door. I pointed towards it and said to Jared, "Here we are."

"Thanks." He said and turned towards the door getting ready to knock. I turned to leave, but he carried on talking. "You know what, I don't understand why people avoid talking to you. Your pretty nice to talk to even if our conversation was brief and all about England." He said with a smile, one which I gladly returned.
