"Hey," Travis nodded in my direction as I stepped into the kitchen. I saw Jordan standing next to him and I almost went over and kissed him until I remembered who else was in the kitchen. "How was work?"

I let out a sigh, "Stressful. You know what I think I'm gonna go take a walk, I'll be back in a bit."

"Can I come?" Jordan asked.

"Yeah sure, whatever," I shrugged, trying not to let on that I desperately needed to talk to him.

"Be back in bit," I said, Travis nodded.

I led Jordan out the back door and through the yard to the entrance to the woods. I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding and turned to Jordan. "Is he gonna know something's up?" I asked.

"Hopefully not," Jordan said nervously. "We're pretty much done practicing for the day, Mike and Deryck are just playing around with rhythms or something so hopefully Travis finds something to do and just forgets we're out here."

When we were out of sight from the back kitchen window I took Jordan's hand and laced our fingers together, swinging his arm nervously, "How am I gonna talk to him about this?"

"There's no easy way to do this," Jordan sighed. "We're just gonna have to ask him straight up."

"I'm scared," I whispered. "What if he flips out on me?"

"Do you want me to ask him with you?" Jordan asked.

"No, he won't be honest and then I'll just have to have two awkward conversations with him," I shook my head, looking at the ground.

"This will all work out, I promise," Jordan stopped walking and kissed my forehead. "If it doesn't we'll just have to run away and change our names," he chuckled.

"You sure it'll be ok?" I said nervously. All my previous confidence about the matter had left me and I was incredibly worried.

Jordan leaned down and put his lips on mine, our mouths molding together, moving in sync as I leaned into the kiss. We parted slowly and I just stood there, looking at him. He gorgeous brown hair that was falling into his piercing blue eyes, and a smile that could make anyone melt. As I stared at him I realized how strong my feelings for him really were. I took the fabric of his T-shirt in my hands and pulled him towards me, crashing my lips to his. "Just incase I never get to do that again," I said, hugging his chest.

"This is all going to work out, I promise," he hugged me tightly, kissing the top of my head.

I paced back and forth, trying to think of a way to bring up the date with Travis. I couldn't think of any way that wouldn't be awkard so I decided I would just casually mention it and see how he reacted.

That night at dinner in between fork fulls of pasta I turned to Travis, "Just so you know I'm not gonna be home Saturday night."

"Why not?" he asked.

"I'm just going out?" I shrugged, trying to give as little information as possible so I could buy myself more time.

"Oooo is it with a boy?" Travis asked as if we were still in elementary school.

"Yeah," I prayed that he'd leave the questions at that but I knew I wouldn't be that lucky.

It didn't suprised me when he asked his next question. "With who?" he wiggled his eyebrows.

"Jordan," I said, talking more to my dinner than to Travis.

"Witzigreuter?" Travis asked slowly.

"Uh huh," I replied, bracing myself for his reaction. Nothing happened. There was no explosion, just silence. I turned to Travis and found him staring straight ahead, fork poised in midair. "You ok there Travy?" I joked, trying to lighten the mood.

"I am gonna whoop his ass," Travis said, still staring at the wall, trying to bore holes into it with his eyes.

"What?" I asked.

"I knew you two had been sneaking around together," he said through gritted teeth.

"What?" I asked again, hoping that playing dumb would keep him from getting an angrier. "Travis what are you saying?"

He turned to me, "You're not going on that date with him, that's what I'm saying."

I felt myself begin to panic, this was supposed to be easy, everything was supposed to work out fine. "Why not?"

"Because I told him to stay away from you," Travis spat. "I'm gonna kill him I swear to God."

"Why are you getting so worked up about this?" I asked, trying to keep my cool.

"I told him to leave you alone and look what's he's done!" Travis shouted. "He's got you all roped into going on a date with him!"

"He didn't rope me in, he just asked me and I said yes because I wanted to," I defended Jordan.

"After I told him not to mess around with you," I could see the fury boiling in Travis's eyes now.

I felt my breathes begin to get shakey, "You never told him he couldn't ask me on a date."

"But I never told him he could," Travis was standing now, pacing about the kitchen.

"Since when do you get to decide who I go on dates with anyway?" I asked, putting my hands on my hips like a small child defying her mother.

"Since I told Jordan to stay away from you!" he shouted.

I felt the scene before begin to blur as tears formed in the corners of my eyes, "Why are you upset about Jordan taking me on a date anyway?" I asked, trying to hide how upset I was getting about all of this.

"I don't want you getting hurt Baily," Travis stopped his pacing. "I'm doing this because I care."

"Who are you, mom?" I rolled my eyes. "Why would you think Jordan is going to hurt me?"

"I'm just protecting you," Travis said slowly, closing his eyes and letting out a frustrated sigh. "Now just get over him."

"You didn't answer my question," I said stepping forward. "Jordan hasn't given you any reason believe he would hurt me."

"Well he hasn't given me any reason to believe he wouldn't hurt you either," Travis said, throwing his hands in the air.

"Don't give me that shit Travis!"

"He just wants to get in your pants!" Travis practically screamed, I took a step back starting to get scared.

It was my turn to throw my hands in the air, "First of all," I said holding up one finger, "That is not true. And second of all I'm offended that you'd even think I'm that easy!"

"Listen, you're not going on a date with him!" Travis yelled so loudly I was surprised it didn't rattle the house.

I felt myself begin to shake, I would be sobbing any minute now. I was never good in situations like this. "Why won't you just let me have this?" I cried. "I just want to go on one stupid date with one guy that actually makes me happy Travis! Why are you so adament on trying to stop me from being happy Travis? Why?" I began to sputter. I tried to wipe the tears away from my face but it was pointless as they were only replaced with new ones.

"I am trying to protected you!" he screamed.

"Maybe I can protect myself!" I yelled back, turning away.

He grabbed be the shoulder, yanking my body so I was facing him. "Baily just get over it! You're not going on that date."

Tears were pouring down my face by now, "You don't get to tell me what to do!"

"For the last time I am trying to help you!"

"You know what?" I sobbed. "I don't want to talk to you about this anymore, I'm leaving." I grabbed my car keys and headed for the door.

"This isn't over!" Travis screamed. He might've said something else but I couldn't hear him over the slamming of the front door.
