Jordan followed me up to my bedroom, slowly closing the door behind him. "There's still something I want to talk to you about," he said slowly.
I suddenly felt very trapped and I could sense a lump growing in my throat. This was really it, now was when he was really going to break up with me. I seriously almost ruined the band and it was too big of a risk to keep me around any longer. I tried to remain calm, "About what?" I asked, using everything I had in me to keep my voice from cracking.
He sat on the edge of my bed, patting the spot next to him and motioning for me to sit, which I did, rather slowly. "Do you remember everything that happened last night?"
"Uh, yes," I stammered, caught of guard by a question other than the one I was expecting.
"Ok good," he nodded. "I don't remember everything but I do remember telling you something kind of important..." he trailed. "Do you remember?"
Of course I remembered, I hadn't stopped thinking about it since the moment he said it. "I remember," I said slowly, trying to remain casual about the situation.
"What do you remember me saying?" he asked.
I swallowed hard, "I remember you saying you loved me, but I know it was just the alcohol talking it's ok."
Jordan cupped my face in his hands, speaking softly,"Baily that wasn't the alcohol talking, that was me."
I ducked my head away, "No, no it wasn't."
"Yes it was, what are you talking about?" he laughed lightly.
I stood up, suddenly regretting having admitted my feelings to him last night. "You were piss drunk Jordan you didn't mean any of it, you don't love me. It's ok."
Jordan stood up with me, taking a step towards me, "What do you mean I don't love you?"
"I'm not the type of girl people love ok? I get that, it's fine," I retorted.
Jordan shook his head, "Darling do you even hear yourself right now?" He pouted, pushing a strand of hair out of my face.
"Can we just drop this whole thing?" I begged.
"Nope," he giggled. "You're so cute when your frustrated, I love it."
I threw my hands up, "Jordan you don't love me ok? I'm not good enough for anyone to love, trust me," I began to raise my voice.
"I didn't wanna do this yet," he said, digging around in his pockets. "But you leave me no choice." I stared at him, wondering what on earth he was doing. From his pocket he produced a tiny box, "Listen to me Baily, I love you," he stepped closer. "And don't try to tell me that I don't because I do. I love the hell out of you. Nothing in my life makes me happier than you make me." He opened the box to reveal a necklace with a small key hanging from it. I felt his hands brush against the back on my neck as he tried to put it on me.
"Jordan," I said, gently pushing his hand away, embarrassed by all the affection. "How much did that cost?" I eyed the expensive looking piece of jewelry.
"It doesn't matter," he said, looking me in the eyes as he placed the necklace around my neck. "The only thing that matters is that I love you, ok?" He put his finger under my chin and tilted my head up. "And don't try to tell me you're not the type of girl people fall in love with, because I know that's not true. You're the type of girl I fall in love with. I love you."
"I love you too," I whispered.
It began to feel as if things were moving in slow motion, as Jordan slowly pressed his lips to mine. His hand cupped my face and as we kissed he drew tiny circles on my cheek with his thumb. I leaned into the kiss, enjoying the way we both moved so slowly, showing only love. That was when everything began to really set in. I was in love with Jordan, and Jordan loved me back, and here we were being in love. Sure our relationship had had it's ups and downs but I wouldn't trade any of that away because what Jordan and I had was exactly what I wanted love to be.
Jordan pulled away and nuzzled his head into my neck, "Did I ever tell you how beautiful you are?" he mumbled.
"Jordan, thank you, but I really don't see how," I began to stop him.
"No, let me finish," he insisted. He wrapped his arms around my waist and hugged me tightly. "I know you don't believe me but you are probably one of the most beautiful things I have ever laid eyes on, I'm dead serious. Everything about you is beautiful. The way your eyes crinkle up at the sides when you grin and how you pull the sleeves of sweaters over your hands. How you can't dance but you do it anyway because it's just what you love to do. The way you sleep all curled up in a tight little ball and just kind of burrow into my chest. And how you always insist we do what we're supposed to do when all I wanna do is sit around and kiss your gorgeous face." I felt myself begin to blush and he giggled, pressing his forehead to mine and looking into my eyes, "The way your laugh is contagious and your smile can light up a room. And how you like music that makes you feel hollow and music that makes you feel whole. The way you call me Jordie or Jor. That thing you do where you smell new books and just everything. Every single aspect of you is beautiful."
I gripped him tightly,"Jordan that's the sweetest thing anyone has ever said to me."
"Well it's true, and I hope you believe me, because I love you," he whispered.
"I love you too," I whispered back.
