After walking the streets of Beacon Hill at night, thing of my past and what the future had instead for me and my friends, had me slightly on edge. But I was pulled back to the drama that is Beacon Hill via a text message from Derek saying to meet him at his hideout. Like a causal hookup...
I had arrived before Derek and Scott. Vampire speed for ya... Minutes went by and Scott and Derek came through, and to the old train cart that I was leaning against.
"I'm saying we need a new plan, because next time, one of us is gonna be too hurt to heal," Derek states as he moved closer to the cart and going inside, Scott and I on his tail.
"Ugh, I get it. We can't save Jackson," Scott replied, his face staring off out of the cart as Derek had sat himself down on a row of seats.
"And whoever is controlling him is blocking themselves from my magic," I state, as eyes went to me. "All I could see in Jackson's mind was shards, like broken glass, his mind lost," I trailed off, as it was kind of sad. Like he was losing himself every time he transforms into the Kanima.
"We can't seem to kill him either," Derek states, no victory in our search for a way to save Jackson. "I've seen a lot of things. I've never seen anything like this," Derek scoffs in defeat as he looks away from us. "Every new moon's just gonna make him stronger,"
"But how do we stop him?" Scott states, as he still had hope for Jackson. I smiled at his determination to save his fellow class mate.
"I don't know," Derek began, shaking his head as his eyes went to Scott who leaned on a pole. "I don't even know if we can,"
"Yeah, maybe we should just let the Argents handle it," Scott replied, but the Argents would kill him if they couldn't help him.
"I'm the one who turned him. It's my fault," and within that moment, the big bad Alpha, wasn't the big bad Alpha, he was just a human being.
"No, don't blame this on yourself Derek," I began as I came forward from Scott, kneeling down to his level. "You didn't turn him into this. This was due to something in his past, and you could not foresee that," my hand reached for his hand which laid on his leg.
"That's a legend in a book. It's not that simple," Derek states as he pulls his hand from mine and there it was, the sign of the big bad Alpha was back. He still didn't want anyone to see his soft side...
"What do you mean? What are you not telling us?" Scott states as Derek gaze went to him, as I stood back up, brushing the back of my skirt down.
"Why do you think I'm always keeping something from you both?" Derek states as I was back at Scott's side, his eye went to Scott then to me.
"Because you always are keeping something from us," Scott states as we know it was true. Though Derek isn't the most trustworthy person I know, he still has information that could help us.
"Well, maybe I do it to protect you both," Derek's eyes gazed between Scott and I, and that was the truth.
"Doesn't being part of your pack mean no more secrets?" Scott's head tilted down before looking back to Derek, who now looked down as well.
Silence filled the cold air between us, as Derek was processing on what Scott said. "Go home, Scott. Sleep. Heal. Make sure you friends are safe," Derek began as his eyes went to meet Scott. "'Cause the full moon's coming. And with the way things are going, I've got a feeling it's gonna be a rough one," I had the same feeling Derek was having that this full moon was going to end in something terrible.
Scott didn't say a word before he left the cart, my eyes going with him as he went home to rest and heal from whatever happened to him. I turn back to Derek once Scott left my sights, Derek's eyes were on the ground, thinking what to do next.
