Nothing Holdin' Me Back

"Are you serious?" You let out an unattractive groan when you rubbed your temples, phone pressed against your ear as you paced inside the living room in your small apartment.

"I thought you were coming with me Ellie." You added, your frown deepening even more.

"Okay, okay its fine. I'll go by myself. Yeah, it's okay. I'll see you around." You ended the call with a sigh.
Typical Ellie.

You were supposed to go together to Shawn Mendes' concert tonight but she decided to bail on you last minute. She said she was having some problems, which you have no clue what and she didn't find it important to tell you either. Your suspicion tells you she's out with her boyfriend. Again.

She says she feels bad and that she didn't really want to cancel but does she really? I mean, you did get these tickets for free, if you paid for it then maybe she'll feel bad.

You will still go no matter what though, it's close to your birthday after all and there is no way on earth you're wasting this extra VIP ticket. This is a once in a lifetime
opportunity, and wasting it is never an option.

Even if you have to go alone.
On the bright side, at least you get to see your godfather after a long while. You two have always been close, and still are, but he had his job and then you had school that required both of you to be in separate countries that are miles away from each other.

You still kept in touch but you rarely see him that often anymore.

You quickly shrugged a denim jacket on, double checking your things in your bag to make sure you didn't forget anything before locking up and hailing a cab, since your godfather insisted that you'd be there a few hours before the gates open in case you wanted to explore the venue a bit, which of course you do, this only happens once in your life after all.

The cab stopped just outside the venue and you saw a bunch of fans already waiting in line. The smile on your lips gets wider as you scanned the arena in front of you, a large right in front marquee.

'Shawn Mendes: Illuminate World Tour'

After paying and then saying a quick thank you to the driver, you hopped off the cab, making your way to the entrance.

Your godfather had said that it wasn't necessary for you to wait in line, though you do feel a bit bad since you're not really into the 'special treatment' kind of things.

So you kept your head down, making your way towards the other side of the doors, trying to be secretive as possible. But once you grew near, you were blocked by a huge, bulked up dude, security you assume.

"I'm sorry ma'am but the gates are not open yet, you need to get back in line." He said sternly, arms crossed in front of his chest as he towered in front of you. This made a few fans look, some whispering and sending you glares as to why you decided to cut in line.

You suddenly felt so small, cheeks heating up as your mouth opened and closed, too nervous to let any words come out.

"It's okay, she's with me." The security looked behind him and gave whoever it was a nod before moving out of the way. Relief washed over your whole body as you saw a familiar face.

"Uncle Cez!" You exclaimed running towards him as he engulfed you in a hug, chuckling as he lifted you off the ground for second before putting you back down. "Hey there kiddo."

"And stop calling me uncle; it makes me feel so old." He joked, guiding you inside the venue. "But you are old." You retorted back with a giggle, making him roll his eyes at you.
This has always been the way you bonded, just the constant bickering and playful banter like you two are just best friends, and you wouldn't have it any other way.
