Robin had been on edge the entire last day of our trip, and was constantly checking his cell phone as if it was the only thing keeping him in his seat. I didn't really question it until my grandmother didn't mess with us. She kept to herself. Everything on the pack territory seemed off, and I didn't like it. At all.
He sat on my bed quietly and fiddled his thumbs, his eyes staring at the ground. I kneeled on the ground before him and grabbed his hands, my eyebrows furrowed.
"Robin what's been up with you?" I asked.
"Something is wrong," he mumbled.
"What?"
"I don't know," he shook his head, "just something."
"Robin that doesn't help,"
"I'd tell you if I knew." He responded shortly, standing up to briskly walk towards the door, which for some reason pulled an unpleasent string with me.
"Would you?" I snapped.
He rolled his eyes and pulled the door open, coming face to face with someone I've never seen before. I tilted my head as Robin kept me out of the man's sight. Like I was going to sit still, he should know better. I stood up and walked up behind Robin, putting my hand on the middle of his back. By the sneer on the man's face it was obvious that he wasn't friendly, and then it occured to me: how did this motherfucker get up here?
"How may we help you?" I questioned.
"Well seeing as that you're a small pack, with a large territory,"
"You want to tour the land?" I acted stupid to piss him off. Was it a smart idea? Probably not.
"No-"
"See the wildlife?"
"We-"
"Meet some ladies?"
At this point even Robin was shaking his head.
"Listen lady-"
"You either want to destroy our pack or steal our territory," I growled.
"So you're not stupid!" The man seemed to be thanking me for that fact.
"No just sarcastic," I rolled my eyes.
"Which one are you here for?" Robin questioned.
"Long way from home aren't we Ulven?" The man mocked, "You and that little sister of yours."
"Watch yourself Gilios," Robin growled lowly.
"Gilios?"
"Rob Gilios at your service!"
"I knew your mother," I noted, "lovely lady."
"A bit shrewish," Robin muttered.
"We've already captured your family," Rob snapped, "you will surrender your pack and territory to us this isntant if you wish for their survival."
"Stati-ar flocii ma-tii-n gat! [1]" I hissed.
"I'm sorry?" Rob scrunched his eyebrows.
I rolled my eyes as footsteps pounded up the stairs, stopping as the floor flattened at the end of the hall. Standing fiercely at the end of the hall with blood splattered clothing was grandmother, a meat cleaver in hand. I would have laughed if I wasn't being threatened. Robin kept in front of me in an attempt to protect me. I haven't seen him fight, but I can't say I'm expecting much. Rob turned to face grandmother, who had already stormed up before him, so now their noses touched. Grandmother was a pretty tall woman if she stood up straight.
"Why aren't you restrained?" Rob questioned her.
"Well maybe if your men were more than overgrown babies with patchy pubic hair I would be." She growled in response.
"So you're Ionus' wife," he raised an eyebrow, "I expected more."
"I'm Ionus' mate." She corrected, her hand snatching him up by his throat before he could defend himself, "You have so much nerve showing yourself here after what you've done."
"May sends her regards," Rob mocked.
"Curule [2]!" Grandmother spat.
Grandmother was digging her nails into his skin now, her eyes burning as he began to claw at her wrist due to the lack of breath. I went to step forward, but Robin pulled me back as grandmother threw the man to the ground against the wall, her angered frame towering over him fiercly.
"Surrender old woman,"
"Oh but of course!" Grandmother growled, "Right after I've removed your pathetic penis, blended it into the finest liquid and shoved it so far up your ass that you've tasted it."
He shifted, tossing grandmother back slightly. A low growl sounded from grandmother as I helped her up, my eyes narrowed at the brown wolf before me. He went to lunge at us, but was thrown back by Robin. It was the first time he'd shifted on our land. His wolf was black, and stood taller than Rob. Rob was scrawny, with spindly legs and a scarred nose. Robin was tall, muscular, and had a torn ear and scarred nose. Estara came bolting up the stairs, her hand held firmly against a bleeding gash on her side, her eyes halting at the two wolves that were growling in our hallway.
Grandmother ran over to her, and froze at the words she spoke. I watched grandmother jump down the stairs, shifting into her gray wolf as she hit the ground. She was gone after that, good luck to anyone that stood in her way. You thought she was bad as a human?
Estara shuffled over to me, her blood catching Robin's attention. He flicked his ears and lowered his head to her, a bold move for an alpha. She moved her hand and let him sniff the wound, yelping when Rob jumped onto Robin's back and bit down on his shoulder. Robin rolled his eyes and sunk his teeth into Rob's paw, throwing him through the window at the end of the hallway.
"Where are the others?" I turned to Estara, who looked even more confused.
"Marnie and Gerda are being protected by Lola." She rushed.
"Then they're fine." I nodded.
"Mom and dad are fighting, last I saw them. You're here, but I can't feel Zana."
That's why she looked so panicked. She couldn't feel the bond of her twin, and that was an issue. Not only for my sister because she relied on her twin, but also for whoever dared to fuck with my little sister. I sat Estara down on my bed and handed her a bandage, she knew what to do with it, she was pretty good with medical stuff. I kissed her cheek and ran out of the room and down the stairs, letting my wolf take over the moment our feet hit the dirt of the outside world. The scent of blood and fire filled our nose and burned our eyes, fueling our fire.
"Lola!" I called to my best friend, who crushed a large wolf's neck in her mouth before dropping him to the ground, his blood staining her light gray fur.
"We're good!" She called back.
"Have you seen Zana?" I spun around, my nose in the air.
"Couple of burly wolves ushered her away," she grunted as another wolf, a female this time, went for her side, "I would have gone after her, but I'm not leaving the pups."
I nodded to her, and yanked the female down by her tail in a last aid to Lola before I bolted off into the woods, my grandmother on my tail. Her ears were back, her teeth were bared, and her eyes burned. Two more wolves joined my side, neither of which I recognized by sight, but I recognized one's smell. Filip, Robin's friend. I figured the other wolf that ran sightly behind Filip was also of Robin's pack, then it occured to me. That's why Robin had been on his phone. He knew something was wrong, and he was getting help, even if he didn't need it. If he trusted the men running besides me, so did I.
One thing was for absolute damn certain. Whoever decided to drag my sister into the woods had hell coming to them.
