The joyous announcement of the little nugget inside my stomach didn't last long. Clarke, one of the pack warriors burst through the door, sweat sticking to his brow, and his underwear sitting crookedly. Don't ask, it was hard not to notice. His shoulders heaved and his eyes scanned the crowd until they landed upon me. I stood up and approached him, Robin, Estara, Lola, and Emil flanking me closely, all curious as to what he had to say.
"Why are you in such a state?" I asked.
"The border patrol found something unusual," he breathed heavily.
"Must be pretty unusual for you to be busting in on such a date." Father strode down the stairs to stand besides me.
"Forgive me Alpha," he lowered his head.
"No harm has been done as of yet." Father shook his head, "What have you found?"
"All the plants surrounding the territory have been poisoned."
I tilted my head as my eyebrows scrunched in confusion. I heard Estara gasp quietly behind me, she loved the plantlife, she was probably the soul reason that our territory was as lush and green as it was. Robin put his hand on my arm and whispered something to Emil, who audibly ran out the back door to the house. Estara turned to follow him, but stopped and stepped back besides Lola, who I could already tell was furious.
"How did you figure out it was poison?" Robin asked.
"Oliver stepped in a substance that seemed normal at first, but after a few moments of walking it began to burn through his pad,"
"Was he taken to the medical wing?" Estara asked.
"No,"
"Why?" She snapped.
"He was ordered to continue the patrol." He shrugged.
"By whom?" She pushed past me.
"Well..." he looked down, his eyes refusing to meet hers, "By me."
The slap echoed through the house mercilessly. His eyes narrowed and his shoulders bowed up at the disrespect the omega provided. He rose his hand to her, but yelped when Zana's wolf leaped over the stair's banistar, her paws plowing his chest to the ground. Her sharp teeth snapped inches from his face before her head lifted at the sound of Emil stepping back into the house.
"Now, harm has been done." Father spoke sharply, "Zana, take him to the cells."
Zana nodded her white head, her sharp eyes focusing on Clarke below her. She took his shoulder in her mouth gently, her teeth not daring to break through the skin. Emil pulled Estara towards him, not pleased by the bothered look on her face, "They'll regrow," he told her quietly. Father stormed towards the stairs, stopping to look at Zana before he ran to his study.
"Oh Zana," her ears perked towards him, "take him however you'd like."
I swear we saw her smirk. Her teeth sunk into his skin, ignoring the scream that tore through his throat. She tossed him over and sunk her teeth into the back of his underwear, dragging him out of the door by the thin tearing cloth. We heard a sniffle behind us on the couch, and we turned to see grandmother, a handkerchief held dramatically up to her eye.
"My baby has my flare!"
"The territory line has been poisoned," Estara sighed.
"It will grow back, as Emil said." Grandmother nodded, a twinge of irritation showing in her face, "For right now I want each of you to stay inside, or in the yard if you are to leave the house."
"Don't you think that's a bit extreme?" Emil asked.
"No." I responded, "She was mated to Ionus, she would know how to handle a situation like this."

Boy was I wrong. Grandmother's decision was way too much. All I wanted was a damn chocolate milkshake and some sour gummy bears, but no. I was about to say fuck it and go get some snacks when a bag of gummies hit me in the leg. I looked at my door, my attention grabbed away from my film. Robin set a milkshake down next to me on my bedside table and sat on the floor besides the bed.
"God I love you." I snatched up the bag of candy.
"I'd hope so." He laughed.
"How did you manage to sneak past the defenses?" I smiled.
"They're napping."
"Robin! They're going to beat your ass!" I rolled my eyes.
"Emil went with me so we're going down together." He sighed, "He wanted to get Estara some seeds to plant in the back yard or wherever she finds room."
"That's nice of him."
"She thinks so, her hug about killed him."
I laughed and tore open the little plastic bag that contained my little sugar high, only for Zana to slam open my door and stare down the package.
"Piss off."
"How?" She gasped.
"Me." Robin yawned.
"Why?"
"She wanted them." He responded.
"Traitor!"
I laughed and tossed her a single gummy bear and relaxed again when she slammed my door shut, disappearing once again. I reached down and grabbed the back of Robin's brown polo shirt and yanked on it until he scooted himself up onto my bed, swatting at my hands since I was technically cutting off his air supply. I adjusted myself so that my head was placed in his lap, and so that I could continue my movie. Robin laughed when he realized what film I was watching, his hands gently running through my probably messy hair.
"You're watching it again?"
"Why wouldn't I? You'd watch Avatar this much if you could." I huffed.
"Oh I can, I just don't because you enjoy watching Spirit day in and day out." He gently combed through my hair.
"Spirit is a good movie!" I argued.
"So is Avatar, but I'm not complaining. The little dance you do when they play the one song at the end is worth it."
"You notice that?" I turtled into myself, my hands flying to cover my face in embarassment.
"Ja," he chuckled, "jeg elsker det."
"You shut up with your fancy Norsk stuff." I mumbled.
"Okay, okay." He smiled as he leaned down and kissed the top of my head.
It was nice and peaceful, Spirit and Rain were eating apples, I was snacking on sour gummy bears and sucking on a chocolate milkshake, Robin was playing with my hair, Estara and Emil were outside planting flowers (I could see them from the window), mother and father were in his study, Marnie was napping with Alice, Gerda was playing with Lola and Mia, and Zana was bopping to angry music in her room. All was nice and normal, but just as I suspected, it didn't stay that way.
"WHO IN THE MOON GODDESS' LEFT TITTY NUT LEFT THIS YARD?"
"She's awoken," I whispered.
"Oh joy."
