You may, or may not have realised I have deleted my first chapter and replaced it with this one. If you have read the one that has now been deleted, forget about that one lmao. I've finally decided how I want this story to be written, and here it is. The TW's are self-harm, depression, murder and suicidal thoughts. Please only read this if you are 100% comfortable. Enjoy :)

Patrick sometimes thinks about Pete.

Scrap that, he always thinks about Pete.

Maybe it's the guilt that claws away at his body every day, his fingers leaving scalding marks on his skin where he scratches, scratches away just trying to relieve that crawling feeling deep in his body. His skin that was so pure, now red and irritated and raw and flushed from the scratching, the guilt, the scratching.

He thinks about the letter Pete wrote, burning under his pillow as he reads it under candle-light. The same flame that burns his skin.

Patrick just wants to feel something other than guilt. He begs for the pain, welcomes it even. Another feeling from the guilt, the sadness, the guilt.

He won't sleep, can't sleep as the only sleep he sees is the one with Pete, but Pete isn't here anymore and Patrick has to live with that.

Or maybe he doesn't have to live, Patrick thinks when he reads the letter again. The letter held in the paper-thin, trembling hands of a murderer. Maybe he doesn't have to live.

A tear seeps from his eye and falls down onto the shaking letter, grasped tightly in his hands. He looks down to the curly letters and reads the first two lines lines that catches his eyes.

I know what you're planning to do, love; but that doesn't define you.

Maybe you won't do it, but then again, you would never see this letter.

Patrick knows he can't do it anymore. He physically can't- his brain has already gone. Lost into the oblivion of grief and guilt. So numb from any other emotion.

You killed Pete.

You are the reason he is dead.

You made that decision.

These are his only thoughts. Perhaps sad, yet true.

But we all know there is no empathy for serial killers.
