*Imani's POV*

"No she needs to leave!" Shaq set the food down and shook his head at us, "Now!"
"Dad," Shareef started.
"What did I tell you son!?" he raised his voice, "I told you not to mess with her!"
"I know bu-" Shareef started but as cut off by Shaunie. "Let's go talk in the hallway," she took Shaq out to the hall and shut the door behind her. I sighed and sat up. "No baby stay," he told me.
"Your dad doesn't want me to be here," I shook my head, "I should just go. I'll come visit you tomorrow and when you get to LA okay?"
"No stay please," he sighed, "I'm scared..." I looked at him and I could see in his eyes he was scared. I would be too. He was trying to be strong around his parents but I could see it in his eyes he was terrified. I nodded and laid back down next to him. "I'm here Reefy," I told him. He held me tighter and let out a sigh of relief. "Thank you," he whispered. I nodded in response.

A few minutes later they both walked back in. Shaq didn't say a word. He sat on the couch that was in the room and started to eat his food. The whole room was quiet. Shaunie sat in the chair next to the bed and broke the silence. "Imani," she started, "How have you been? I haven't seen you in a long time."
"It's been pretty good," I nodded, "Missed you guys. Been a long time."
"It has," she smiled, "You should come by sometime. You and Shareef seem pretty close."
"She will be mine," Shareef whispered.
"I knew you two would be close since you were babies. You two always clicked," Shaunie smiled.
"Doesn't change who's blood she is," Shaq chimed in with a scoff. Shaunie shook her head and smiled at me. "Don't worry," she whispered to me, "he will warm up.

I spent the rest of the night just quiet. I talked to Shareef here and there but we mostly just watched TV. Naomi brought me my stuff as well. It was getting later and we turned off the lights. We kept the TV on to fill the silence. Shareef played with my hair gently and I had my head on his chest. "Kiss me," he whispered. I looked up at him and I could barely see him. I could see him enough though. I leaned up a little and kissed his lips, closing my eyes. The same butterflies dancing around my stomach. We pulled away slowly and I smiled at him. "You're mine," he whispered.
"Yours," I agreed.
