"This is Esther, she's 16, a year above you Alexis, and this is Sam, he's 4." Dorothy said. These were her children, Esther was a gorgeous girl, she had long black hair, trailing down to her hips. She gave me a small smile and a wave. I returned it. She was shy, I could tell by the way she had her hands, they were linked in front of her body, her head was looking down.

"Hi Alexy," I heard a small voice call out.

"Hey Sammy." I mumbled as I patted his head. I don't think I had ever been shown this much attention before now. Usually I was beaten if I even said one word.

"Are you going to be staying with us for a long time?" Sam questioned, his face covered with a  big smile. I looked up at Dorothy, when she nodded, I continued.

"Yeah, I am." I smiled as I bent down so now we were face to face. "Is that okay?"

"Yes!!" Sam jumped around as soon as the words were out of my mouth. He was such an adorable little kid. "Can she stay in my room mummy??"

"Sorry honey, but she is staying in Esther's room." Dorothy looked down at the little boy as she said this. Sams expression went from one of excitement, to one of disappointment. He nodded his head before sulkily walking off to his room.

"Is that okay with you though, Esther?" I questioned, a frown covering my face. I knew deep down that it would be okay otherwise Dorothy wouldn't have said I was staying there, but after living with my father for all the years that I did, I had learned to ask if anything and everything was okay.

"Of course it is!" Esther yelled enthusiastically, even though she was standing less than 20 feet away from me. I couldn't help but smile at this. It seems as if she wanted me there. "I've always wanted a sister type of figure."

"So have I," I mumbled softly. "I've wanted any type of sibling really."

"Here, I'll show you my room." Esther replied, she led me to her room. Instead of being grabbed forcefully, she just showed me the way. She didn't touch me in anyway. This was so much different to life with my father.

"Woah, your room is massive!" I exclaimed, my voice was high pitched as I walked into the room. She had a room that was about as big as our previous house. I should have guessed though, this story was a 3 story house. It shouldn't have been a surprise that this room would have been massive.

"Yeah, I'm pretty lucky. I bagged the biggest room in the house when I walked in." Esther laughed. "Mum got pretty angry though, she got stuck with the 2nd biggest room."

"Well lucky you. I could imagine your mum being angry over it." I laughed along with her. It felt like ages since I had laughed like this. I liked it.

"Oh please, it's not like she threw a tantrum and cried because I got the biggest room or anything." Esther whispered.

"I could imagine her doing that as well." I still hadn't stopped laughing. "So why are you whispering?"

"She told me never to repeat that to anybody, she'll kill me if she finds out I told you, she'll kill you for knowing as well." Esther whispered, but I could see the smile creeping up on her face. I knew she was joking about her mum killing her & myself, but I wished she wouldn't joke about that.. because once upon a time, it was a threat I took seriously.

She must have noticed the look on my face, because it only took a few seconds before she started apologizing. "I'm sorry, I'm really really really-" I cut her off.

"It's fine, honestly. You didn't know." I let a fake smile take over. I didn't want her to be living in constant fear of what she might say. She's a teenager, all of us say things without thinking.
