The scowl on his face was prominent as he quickly walked towards his two siblings.
“Have you any idea how irresponsible this is?”
The question boomed into existence. My eyes widened in surprise, as he usually kept his calm. He glanced to where I was standing and his eyes narrowed.
Oh great, now I’m getting in trouble by Mr. responsible.
“Grace, you too? You can’t do this. I expected this of my siblings, but surely I thought you had more sense than to waltz out of the house at this time of night, especially with our departure approaching.”
I know he wanted me to say that kamala had dragged me along, or that I was tricked. For some odd reason, that thought made a defiance well up in me. It seemed foreign, almost like someone was egging me on. I ignored my gut telling me something wasn’t right, and decided to let myself feel cocky for once.
“Actually, it was my idea. It looked fun, so I asked Kamala and Anik to join me. You can’t command us around like you’re the king, because you’re not, you know you’re not.”
Raj’s eyes widened in surprise, and I could see the confusion.
“But…you…well that was uncalled for!”
I smirked and sauntered over to kamala, who still looked like she was in shock.
“You ready to go?”
She just nodded, and I walked out, not caring if anyone was following.
The whole ride home, Kamala kept talking about how “cool” and “amazing” it was that I stood up to Raj.
After we had both changed and were ready to actually get some rest, I started to feel a little bit bad about my actions.
He was only trying to make sure we didn’t get into any trouble. Maybe I was a little harsh. Should I apologize?
With thoughts swirling in my head, I decided I would get some rest. That would help calm the storm.
When my alarm the next morning went off, I really started to feel the lack of sleep I had gotten. Knowing Raj would gloat if I acted the least bit tired, I dragged myself out of bed and got ready to train.
The way to the basement seemed to take longer than usual, with it requiring extra concentration from me so I didn’t miss a step.
As I finally stepped onto the padded flooring, I found Anik and Kamala already sparring. They paused when they saw me, and I walked over, slightly confused to see Raj missing.
“Hey guys, where is the gym Nazi?”
Kamala folded her arms over her chest with a smirk.
