-Maggie-POV-
as i sit here on with easton on the front porch swing i watch our little girl run and play in the front yard with our big dogs.
i smiled knowing my little girls life was pretty close to perfect thanks to the man sitting beside me right now.
"babe, do you ever wonder what it would have been like to live in a different time?" i asked with my head laying on his shoulder
"sometimes. i think i would worry less if we were raising layne in the 50s, things were simple and safe" he played with my hand
"me too, sometimes i worry just taking her to the feed store." i sighed and looked out to see Justin pull up with his girls and Katie
"hey y'all!" Justin said walking on the porch with his youngest daughter in his arm and sit her down before layne came running and jumped in uncle Justin's arms
"hey uncle Justin!!!" she said happily as Justin's girls came and gave me a hug.
"hey buster!" he smiled calling layne by her nickname he gave her when she started talking
"hey guys! come on katie I'll see you to your rooms" i smiled and walked over to the door
"you sure it's not too much trouble for us and the girls to stay here with you guys?" she asked carrying her suitcase
"I am positive! we have this big house and half of it doesn't even get used so this is honestly a treat for me because I never get to entertain guests here" I smiled and she followed me up the stairs
"I know exactly how you feel, we hardly ever have guests unless its Christmas or thanksgiving and Justin's mom likes to have those at her house so I don't get to have people over at our house to stay" she told me sadly,
"that's us, only Easton's mom doesn't really like me and Layne so we don't exactly get invited to her house too often" I said sitting down on the bed in the room for the girls.
"I got lucky with Justin, his parents like me and I like them. do you just not like her?" she asked
"she's not someone I'd want as my best friend so if that says anything" I told her
"oh...one of those mother in laws, huh"
"yea one of those, she didn't like that I had Layne when me and Easton got married then it was my job. she didn't like that I was gone a lot and sometimes Easton would have Layne because she doesn't always want to come with me and Easton takes really good care of her."
"she should be happy, she has a grandbaby and a beautiful daughter in law. Easton really hit the jackpot with you guys though, ready made family"
"you would think but she hates both of us which is why Easton doesn't go around her often anymore, she doesn't wanna have anything to do with me and layne so Easton said he didn't wanna have much to do with her"
"I have a ton of respect for him. he stands up for you guys" she smiled
"I've never had someone take up for us as much as him. he's honestly been amazing about that kinda thing" I smiled as I sat on the bed and started looking through my phone for the picture we took together a few days ago at the opry and showed it to her
"aww you guys are adorable! seriously your next kid is going to be Easton made over" she gushed
"yea I hope so, having a mini Easton would be nice"
"layne looks just like you so the next one will look like Easton, I call it so just remember that when the next ones born and I say I told you so"
"haha I know you will, anyways I better go check on the boys and the girls, who knows what can of trouble they are getting into besides the normal trouble there always in" I laughed
"oh we both better go check, just in case" we laughed and walked out of justin and katies room before we walked downstairs and went outside to find the kids on the horses with Easton and Justin leading them around in the pasture in front of the house.
"they really are good dads" I smiled watching layne and Easton with the horse.
"yea they are." she smiled.
"lets go ride" she agreed and we walked out to the pasture and started walking with the husbands and the kids.
"hey mommy!" layne smiled from her horse as I walked up beside her and her daddy
"hey babe" Easton smiled and took my hand in his.
"hey you two" I smiled and we started walking for the little clearing next to the pond where we sit and watch the sunset a lot of evenings like this one.
we stopped at the side of the pond and sat to watch the sunset as the kids played behind us.
