its been 6 months since we got engaged and we're getting married this coming 4th of july, since neither of us wanted a huge wedding and a ton of people we decided to have it here at the ranch. i couldn't be more excited, i'm marrying the most amazing guy I've ever known and the greatest dad i could ever have asked for, i never thought in 10 months that i would fall in love, get engaged and be married in under a year but here i am.
laynes 5th birthday was October 12th and i hadn't planned anything big just a weekend trip to Dollywood with the cheap park package but when Easton found out he upgraded it to the best package they had, because he wanted the best for our little girl and to be honest i couldn't be more thankful for him. layne never expected or asked for much but it was nice that he loved her enough to do something like that for her.
"babe me and layne are ready" i said walking to my truck with layne as he ran around upstairs looking for his cowboy hat which is still on the dash board in his truck
"alright just let me find my cowboy hat and i'll be there" he yelled as i walked out the door with her
"babe I've got your hat" i yelled back opening the back door for layne.
"alright i'll be done in a minute" he yelled back as i got in his truck and got his hat before i got in mine to wait on him.
he came down and got in the truck and said
"how did you have my hat?" he asked taking the hat from my hand and starting the truck.
"you left it on the dashboard in your truck where you always leave it after you work on the ranch babe" i smiled as he shook his head and started backing out of the barn. ye the garage is an attached barn.
"what would i do without the 2 of you?" he smiled looking at me then in the rearview at layne
"well babe, i'm going to go ahead and guess you'd be totally lost" i laughed
"and your guess is right, i would be" he smiled holding my hand and pulling out of the driveway and on to my street.
heading to Nashville for the CMA awards.
we got to the opry and grabbed our hats before we got out and started walking down the red carpet.
we had stopped 4 times to pose and take pictures before we got to the end and were interviewed
-interview-
"we're here on the red carpet tonight for the CMA awards and here comes raising star Easton Corbin with fiancée Maggie Durfey and daughter layne" the reporter said talking to the cameraman
"hey guys!" she smiled
"hey!" we smiled back, Easton holding layne
"i love that your all matching tonight!" she smiled
"aww thank you!"
"your welcome! whens the big day guys?"
"you'll just have to wait and find out" Easton smiled holding layne on his right and holding my hand in his left
"alright well it was nice seeing you guys!" she smiled trying to hide her smirk as we walked inside.
"i don't think she liked that very much"
"yea.....probably not....she tried to hook me a couple times so shes probably mad"
"well i can see why she tried, you are one very handsome piece man!" i smiled looking at him still holding layne.
"and you are one beautiful piece of woman" he smiled at me as we took our seats beside Luke and Caroline
"hey you two!" i smiled sitting down beside caroline
"hey Maggie!" she smiled hugging me.
we sat down and watched the show before he was called up on the stage for winning single of the year
he stood up and hugged me and layne before he walked up on stage and started talking
he met chris young and trisha Yearwood on stage and took the award before saying
"i just wanna thank my management, my bandmates, my fiancée, my daughter and the good lord for getting me this far! i can't describe how blessed and thankful i am! thank you!" he smiled widely and came back to his seat beside me.
the whole time he was on stage i stood there beside caroline and luke with layne in my arms and faught back tears of happiness. i can't believe the song we wrote together about layne won him single of the year!
he came back to his seat and hugged me and layne with watery eyes. he smiled at us and said
"this award really belongs to the both of you, not me" he smiled and put his arm around the back of my chair and held layne on his lap.
after it was over we left and went to eat with luke, caroline, dustin, Justin, Katie, Brantley and amber before we went home.
we got back to the ranch with layne passed out in the backseat. he got out and carried layne inside and put her to bed before he came back downstairs and looked at his award sitting on the mantle shining in the light given by the mantle light about the mantle.
"i am so proud of you baby!!" i smiled hugging him and kissing him
"and i am proud of you, i owe winning this award to you because you gave birth to layne, you both stared in it and you helped me write it" he smiled and picked me up bridal style before carrying me upstairs and celebrating with a little bit of love making.

hard to believe that was months ago but now here we are! july 4th! since i have tons of friends from the rodeo we decided to have the wedding on july 4th when i have a ton of people here anyways.
i never once thought after i had layne that i would meet someone like Easton who doesn't care that i'm a mom, that i work a mans job, that i have 4 huge dogs that are nothing but huge babys and that loves my little girl unconditionally as his own.
a few days after we got engaged layne and Easton went fishing while i had a girls day with caroline. they came home after that and layne came running to me on the couch saying
'me and daddy had so much fun swimming and fishing today mommy!' she smiled so wide
later on after she went to bed he came down and sit down on the couch beside me before i said
'are you okay with her calling you daddy?' he looked at me and smiled before he said
'when she called me that earlier i almost cried, i perfectly fine with it' he smiled
'the day you proposed, before we left when we were getting ready she asked if you were her daddy' i smiled
'i am now'
that was all it took for me to know he was the perfect one for me and layne.
