» Chapter 9«
It has been 3 days since I left my room.
The only difference between my isolation 2 weeks ago to now is that...
I CANNOT WAIT TO GO OUTSIDE.
My room has never felt as constricting as it is now. Even the little freedom i feel in the balcony is unsatisfying.
The only consolation to this was that I dont see a certain over dramatic Prince who seems to be allergic to the word 'sorry'.
Aspen informed me about his conversation with said prince, and yes I am not saying his name- I'm feeling stubborn.
As much as I want to shrug Maxon's sudden determination to pursue me, the butterflies in my stomach and the smile on my lips betrayed what I want to hide.
But I am still mad at him.
If he so wanted me, he should have apologized. Its been three days and there was no word from him. Not a letter to meet him, a rose on the foot of my door, nothing. My heart sunk lower as my brain reasoned that maybe Maxon said what he said to Aspen to save his selfish face.
Sighing I flopped on my bed, my knees over the edge as my legs dangled.
I cannot worry about this right now when there were bigger things going on.
Like... the Report tonight.
This will be my first appearance since my controversial speech. This time Silvia made me promise that I wouldnt say a word about that night, in fact I shouldnt talk at all. Not like I'm complaining or anything. The less brightness there is on the spotlight, the better. I only hope that I didnt incinerate the little fans I have. I dont need to add the people of Illea to the list of 'People-who-hate-me'. I already have a king in there, no need to add the rest if the worlds population.
knock, knock
And here's my dress.

"Oh my!" Mary exclaimed as her hand covered her mouth in shock.
Do I look that bad?
I havent seen the dress since they blindfolded me.
Looking down I gasped.
The dress looked like sunshine, no hyperbole here. The bottom part was in watery-like layers that swish with my every move, as light orange turn to orange then red as it reaches my feet. Their making me wear heels, plain white ones, probably 2 inches.
The upper part of the dress is made of the same material but a bright yellow with a sweetheart neckline, a thick line going from where both sides of the heart meet to the middle of my collarbone and ends in a bow behind my neck. My back slightly bare.
Simply, amazingly, gorgeous, stunning...
I'm running out of words to describe this dress.
"Wow! Lady America you look stunning!" Lucy said as she comes uo from behind me- she was tying the bow.
I look at each one of them. Their faces lit with pride and happiness.
My smile was big as I say: "Amazing!"
I would have said more but the dress just took my vocabulary away.
"You guys are truly amazing! Thank you!" I say, crushing them with a tight hug, careful not wrinkle and crease the dress.
"For you Lady America, anything" Mary says politely, her grin big.
"You truly look like a princess, Lady America" Anne says as she steps out the hug.
Lucy just nods as tears try to break out from her eyes.
"Oh! Your hair and make-up Miss! We only have a few minutes left" Mary says as she hurriedly grabs... well whatever it is you use for make-up. Lucy starts making ringlets on my hair and then ties it up in a plain tight ponytail.
Anne cleans up my room as Mary applies powder and what nots on my face.
"And were done!" Mary exclaims as she starts fixing up the stuff she used.
"And your going to be late Miss! Sorry you just have to trust us with your make-up and hairstyle because we have no time!" Anne says she place my heels in front of me and helping me put it on.
"Lady America? They are waiting for you downstairs" a voice comes from the door. And by the sound of Lucy's giggling, I know Aspen was here.
Oh no, my nerves are coming back.
"Breathe Miss. Inhale, exhale." Mary says as she brings her hand up and down. I follow the movement and I feel slightly at ease.
Slightly.
Turning around I made my way towards my door. I couldnt see Aspen seeing as Lucy was talking to him.
I clear my throat and place a smile on my face as Lucy moves.
"The Prince wont know what hit him" Aspens says with a smug grin.

FanfictionMy version of The One. This book does not include the rebels and mainly focuses on Maxon and America...mostly situations where I make America outshine the others ✨ The middle parts are horrible and I want to take it down but I can't. Warning! Incred...
