Take four minutes and tell your partner your life story in as much detail as possible.
This is the question I've waited for. The question that reveals who the person in front of me is. I sincerely hope he isn't as overdramatic and exaggerating or is begging for sympathy just because his life wasn't as easy as the one of some others. Which, according to his other answers, is not very likely? However, his responds are a little bit slimy sometimes. I start, hoping he will follow my pragmatic lead.
"Well, it all started some twenty years ago in a big city named Frankfurt. Yeah, that's right, I was born in Germany. As it comes, I didn't stay there for too long, giving the fact that I moved to New York one year later. As you already know, I met my first best friend in kindergarten. Then, when I was five, I started school. Everything was fine; I had friends and was good in school. That actually lasted until now, even if I have to admit that I got meticulous when it comes to let new people in my life. In fact, that is pretty much all that there is to say. Sad, because I didn't even come near the four minutes. Wait, what is there else to say? After graduation I chose to do some traveling, not doing any social projects though, just some time to see the world. That does sound very cliché, well, not everything that is mainstream is bad. I travelled around Europe and Australia. A year later, I came back having spent all the money. Needed a job, found one. End of the story. "
"Come on, there is more to say and another two and a half minutes left. "
"It's hard because I am so young yet. I haven't had a life project I can tell about right now."
"It's not about explaining your life project." "There is just nothing I can speak about." "There surely is! What about how you began not believing in love."
"For me this was a given fact. You know, it's exactly the same with religion. Before you ask, no person disappointed me, broke the holy bond of trust, or betrayed me in any way. The same counts for my family. I had a great time with my parents. Nothing to worry about."
"Four minutes are over. " "Do you say that right now to stop me from speaking? If so, I cannot blame you for that. In fact, you wouldn't be the first one who tried to stop me from giving a speech on how my life-philosophy is not a product of a list of bad things that happened to me."
Tom giggles, letting me know that he prefers not to answer my question. "It's your turn then, I guesses."
"Back in 1995 in Sioux Falls, the biggest town in South Dakota, a big genius was brought to life. He was meant to live a happy and fulfilling life. Though some people might think he went with the path of getting an asshole, people who cared to know, experienced that he could be an outermost good friend, even if he looked at the world with an arrogant glance. At the beginning, I mentioned he was a genius. What is there more to say? One might think. Well, one should add that he wasn't always best in school but that did not hold him up to show is incredible intelligence to the whole wide world.
Moreover, he is noticing right now, that his way to talk is very stupid and not at all funny. On the other hand, he cannot stop, considering that would sound even more foolish. Please forgive him."
"I do but only if he considers to continue in a normal way to speak." "He'll do his best."
I am turned between finding that funny and thinking that he is a pain in the neck.
If you could wake up tomorrow having gained any one quality or ability, what would it be?
Believe it or not, I have thought about this question more than one time in my life. And my answer is reading minds. Everyone says that this would be too hard the moment someone thinks badly about you but I am hardened.
Toms phone rings. "Won't you pick up?" He shakes his head. "We are on a date as I recall." Does not change the fact, that his ringing tone is too shrill for my liking. "Maybe it's important, who knows? In the end, it's depressed Mr. Thompson who desperately needs your help. Didn't you want to cancel our Date just due to him at the very beginning?"
"Do you want to get rid of me?" He laughs. Yes. I do. I laugh with him, hoping he takes that as a no but still picking up the bloody phone.
To my relief he takes my telepathic signs.
To be honest, I do not even know where the sudden dislike comes from. Who wants to get rid of a handsome, nice person with the perfect amount of arrogance?
He is trying too hard.
Why am I trying to justify myself anyway? Sometimes people do not like people.
36 question of love should be called 36 questions of hate.
