Everything is set up and I have to say I am a little bit excited to hear the stories.

The first cast comes in and I eye them. They are both around forty years old but still, they look like real lovebirds. Ugh, cheesy.

"Okay, so please just tell the whole story of how you met, why you love each other and how one of you proposed. I am going to record that and take some notes. However, do not worry; I will erase the video, as soon as I've analyzed it. Please start."

The husband started explaining.

"We met the summer of 1996 at a festival. I can say with no doubts that she saved me from breaking down. She was there for me when no one else was. I know this sounds rather cliché but this is a fact. I was a drunk and a drug addict and this girl forced me to go to rehab. You cannot believe how grateful I am. I owe her my life."

"Very well, when and how did you propose?"

"It was two years later. Actually, the story is a bit funny. I took part in a casting show – X Factor and well, I failed. But while I was still on stage and after the jury had announced their feedback I brought my wife on stage and proposed to her." Both begin to laugh. One can see that they are in love with their memories. Unfortunately, I cannot force my client to take part in a casting show. Yet, who knows? Maybe this idea can be useful.

"Okay, thank you very much. Now a question to your wife: So, he claims that he loves you due to gratefulness but why do you love him? As I recall he did not save you, did he?"
She smiles.

"In a way, one can say that he saved me. He saved me from loneliness and he saved me from nothing to do. He showed me what it is to have a connection to another person and what it means to care about someone. Besides, I was excessively naïve back then. Now I know far more perspectives of life if that is understandable."

"In conclusion, is it possible to say that you love each other because you share memories, which you never went through with someone else?"

They nod slowly.

I give them a sign that they can leave now.

This story was an extreme one and that is why I cannot relate their anecdote to Jack Thomson.  On the other hand, what if I can? I should definitely think about it.
