Tom hasn't answered yet. I begin to get nervous. Why didn't he sent me a letter back? Did I scare him off? I probably shouldn't be a drama queen.
Every day I seem to see the world with a different touch. Might be that spring is coming, might be Tom who had an impact on me. Why did he though? I only remember being constantly angry at him.
The moment I thought I would never hear from him again, he visits me at work, which is quite a surprise. A bigger one is his intention though:
"Gloria, so good to see you again!" "You didn't answer my letter." "Yes, and I am incredibly sorry for that. There were some things that came up. For example the thing I am actually here for." Oh, am I not the reason? "I wanted to ask you a professional favor. Would you mind organizing a party for me?" That means spending time with him, right? Sure, I am open for that! "Certainly! What's the occasion?"
"I would like to throw an engagement party." His voice is calm and determined. Whilst saying these bitter words, which probably for him sound like heaven, he looks me deeply in the eyes. I feel like I play a part in the worst movie ever.
"For long do you know each other?" "Not for long, actually." That is something to work with. Maybe their relationship ends soon. It's probably too early for an engagement anyways. Their relationship won't survive this kind of pressure, I can sense that.
"Huh. Well, congrats! I told you, you won't end up alone." "Guess, you were right." He laughs.
Stop laughing, please stop laughing.
Gloria, please stop bothering. If he is happy, you should be too. You wouldn't have wanted more than sex anyways, right? Get back to normal and smile!
"What did you have in mind?" "I have some ideas but nothing actually planned." "You should, Joshua for example had the same philosophy as you, and as we both know it didn't end too well. I hope you have proposed to her already?"
He doesn't answer.
That could be a good sign.
If he hasn't proposed, who knows she will eventually say yes?
She could simply say no.
"In no doubt she will say yes though." "That sounds assuring!" No, it does not. "What exactly where your uncertain ideas whizzing in your head?"
Tom smiles amusedly – again. Stop being that stupidly happy. "I thought of letting it take place in a fancy, chick hall with view on the lake." "That sounds nice. I think I know a place, which fits to your description. I'll call the owner in a sec. How many guests do you want to come?" "Not as much as for the actual wedding, which means around thirty people." "I assume that you didn't make a guests list yet?" He shakes his head. "Do you know a date?" "No, but I thought in April or May." "That's like now? It could be hard to get a place in such short notice." "June is fine as well." "Okay, I'll see what I can do. That would be all for today, I guess. You should start on the guest list though, because that is not something I can do for you."
"Yeah, sure. Gloria?" "Yes?" "Try to make this whole thing as romantic as possible."
