~Her Butler, Laced in Red~
As Chesphire and I rounded the corner nearest to Mary Kelly’s house, we heard a faint voice.
“Sebastian, are you positive that this is the house?”
“Yes my lord.”
I blinked and walked quickly towards the voices, only coming face to face with Ciel and Sebastian.
“C-Charlotte?” Ciel asked, visible eye wide.
“Hello Ciel, you didn’t expect me here then?” I chuckled, raising an eyebrow.
“Well… No… I thought you’d be asleep…” He grumbled.
I laughed, and shook my head, “No, I knew that the Vicount wasn’t Jack the Ripper the whole time.”
“So why did you--” Both of us stopped and looked at Chesphire and Sebastian, who were fawning over a cat.
I rolled my eyes, and Ciel huffed. “God Sebastian your so---”
Suddenly, a scream came from behind us, “How did they get past us?!”
I bolted towards the door, Ciel behind me, and together we flung open the door.
Blood hit both of our faces, and the sight in front of us was gruesome to say the least. We were both pulled back by our respective butlers, and my eyes were covered.
Silent tears slid down my cheeks, and all I could think was that is was my fault.
If I had just gotten there quicker…
If I hadn’t talked to Ciel…
If I had just… Taken action… She’d be alive.
“That was awfully dramatic of you, don’t you think?” I heard Sebastian asked, and I gripped Chesphire’s hand.
“I-I… I ran to help…”
“No. We would’ve seen you, you idiot.” Chesphire retorted.
After a few seconds of dead silence, a deep chuckle emerged from the killer. That’s when it clicked-- the Ripper was Grell Sutcliffe.
“Oh I was quite the actress--- Aren’t you proud of me?” He laughed, his voice changing from the once shy voice that he had had.
“Oh Bassy--- you’re so smart-- you knew it was me all along, didn’t you?” Grell mumbled, and I heard Chesphire sigh.
“Why did you do it?” Sebastian asked, voice even and monotonous.
“I did it for love. I fell in love.”
Then I heard heels clicking, and I pulled Chesphire’s hand from my face, glancing and seeing Ciel’s emotionless gaze, I looked at the other part to Jack the Ripper.
Madam Red.
My breath hitched in my throat, and I quickly adapted an emotionless mask-- she didn’t need to know how hurt I was.
“Madam Red. You were on the suspect list from the beginning.” Ciel said, pulling a sheet of paper from his coat.
“You suspected your own aunt?” She chuckled, raising an eyebrow.
“I needed to find out who the Ripper was--- relation to me didn’t mean anything.” He replied, unfolding the list and pointing her name out. “Sebastian--- kill the Ripper.” He said, his eye never leaving Madam Red.
“Of course, young master.”
“Chesphire, assist Sebastian, will you?”
“Yes, m’lady.”
